So I tried searching around to see if this was ever brought up, but couldn't find anything.
Basically, is there a way to adjust the throttle pedal position like there is the clutch pedal, or like on older cable pedals? Because it feels like there's about an inch of play on my throttle pedal from when I completely release it, to when it starts engaging the throttle body, so when cruising, if I accidently go into this "dead zone" the throttle body just full closes and it makes the car kinda jerk around as I try to smoothly get back to that engagement point.
I don't know if this is normal with drive by wire either, as my MS3 did the same thing, but that car had more problems than I could think of, and I never attributed it to the pedal before, but this "dead zone" is far more prominent in my 8 and has me thinking that either there is a way to adjust it, or my pedal might be going bad.
fwiw it’s an electronic throttle pedal and isn’t directly connected to the throttle body which is also electronic
but to answer your question; no, there isn’t any adjustment on the electronic throttle pedal.
.
I know all that, which is why I was hoping there might have been some kind of adjustment, at least to set where it sits at idle with no input.
At the moment, it's like this, and if this isn't "normal" operation, then I can only assume that I'd need a new pedal. But I don't really want to have to get one since the cheapest new one I can get is still like, $180, which I would much rather spend on more engine bay work.
Only done the clutch pedal on the rx7 so it might be different, but isn't it just literally a a nut you can adjust to change the deadzone?
I know the clutch has that adjustment, but I don't know if the throttle does as well. And it's been over 105F every day here for like, 2 weeks, so I haven't gone and crawled under the dash to check myself.
Magnetic actuation, ain't that an interesting one.

How long have you had your 8? At low speed low rpm it will lug. All high strung engines do, it takes some getting used to.
About 2-ish months now. It doesn't really lug, it just has a very strange cut off from where the pedal sits at idle, to where it actually starts opening the throttle body. So it doesn't start actuating the throttle body till you push the pedal down about an inch or so, see picture above, best way I can describe it. So say I'm cruising at 4k rpm, and I get to a downhill section, I go to ease off the throttle a bit to keep speed, and where you would normally hold it to keep a smooth cruise, the throttle instead snaps all the way shut. It's not super critical, but it does make for some rather snappy jolts when you don't expect it. My Mazdaspeed3 had the same kind of problem, so I wasn't sure if this was just normal behavior for an E-Throttle, or if both of mine might have had problems.
I'm about to do my whole clutch and brake lines tomorrow morning, so I can take a video of what I mean when I'm all done with it.
So, went out to grab the brake fluid and a pneumatic bleeder for tomorrow morning, and lo and behold, my coolant tank top where the cap screws on decided it was time to let go, and then my AC compressor melted. Outside of evacuating the AC system before replacing the compressor, is there any other steps I should take? For now, I cut the belt off in the parking lot before driving it back home while keeping an eye on the temp (using a OBD2 monitor) like a hawk, so I wouldn't miss if it started overheating. So for now, I can drive it without the AC belt on if need be, it's not my daily, but being in AZ I would like to get that back up and running ASAP. Melted AC compressor
I already had a new coolant tank I was going to put in at the same time as doing the rad hoses, thermostat, and Mazmart coolant pump when they put them back up, wanted to do it all at once, but guess the tank will be first and foremost here.
BUT, I did get the video when I first left the apartment before that happened. At no point in this video, did I let the Throttle Pedal all the way out.
