Unhappy Throwing in the rotory towel...

Well boys and girls, Ive had enough. I got in my car at 7am yesterday to leave for work and my tranny is completly fuct. I dont know what is going on with it. I got it into second gear and limped it over to City Place Mazda. They called me two hours later and said that the problem is accident related. So I call Lou Bachrodt Chevy (who fixed the car) and they had it towed to there place around 1pm. At 4pm I called over there and the guy tells me he got it shifting but there is an electrical problem. He will let me know whats going on Monday. I cant fu**ing deal with this anymore. Ill be damned if I am going to drive a brand new car that I cant rely on to get me to work. At this point I am so tired and pissed that I am going to go out and buy a beater Civic and sell the 8. I dont care how much I lose. I have spent more money in car rentals than two months car payments. Its been fun guys but I think Im rotor cursed. That or my car was built on Friday the 13th last year.
Pistons old friend...daddy is coming home! See you guys on the road when I get a new Stang GT in 2006 (Ill never buy a first year model again either!)

Sorry to hear that Picos. The car being a "first" year is why i sorta didn't want to wait for the car and got the S. I always planned on getting the 8 after the S so i can make sure the bugs are all worked out. A lot of problems always happen with first years and the same with the S. Best of luck in whatever car you go to.. but a ford? Blah! J/k!

Um... Lemon? I dunno. Sounds like this problem is with the tranny not the engine, so... can't be bitch towards rotaries, but I don't know any other problems you've had.

The '06 Stang is bad ***, though. Can't deny that.

Talking Rotary problems?

How can you claim it's "rotary problems?"

First you hit a semis' tire, wipe out everything north of the engine, then you get creamed by a Mustang to the tune of $8000 damage, and then claim the rotary is garbage, and you will buy a Mustang.

Maybe you should.

Come on man. I've been through 2 transmissions. You don't hear me talking about how bad this car is.

They said your problem is related to the accident you had. Sounds like bad luck, not an issue with the car.

You gotta keep the faith, and it'll all work out.

If you get into a couple of accidents with the civic, then your transmission in the civic goes out, will it be the fault of the piston engine???

Your car is screwed, sorry to hear that

Your accident COULD cause the same problems in any car. As others have stated.

Glad you're ok tho.

The point was that I have bad luck with this car. I never said anything regarding the engine. I love this car. But I hate all the bad sh*t that has happened to me in it. Sorry if you guys took it the wrong way.

The bad luck/fortune has nothing to do with the car...

Re: Re: Throwing in the rotory towel...

Well, it's because of the title of the thread. You could have just stated that another car was in order.. it just happens the 8 is the only NEW rotary, but your title implied that you gave up on the rotary engine.

No big deal. Hope you enjoy the new car!

Honestly, I am real sorry to hear that. The Friday the 13th thing sounds a little weird...it probably caused your bad luck. I hope this does not change your view on rotary's (although it probably does), but remember you are one of about a million who experience these sort of severe problems with the RX-8. Oh and 2004 is not the first model year for the RX-8 (2003)....

Welcome to America, the 2004 model year RX8 is the first year car. It may be known as the 2003 elsewhere, but here its the 04 model.

J/k Im sure you knew that since we live in the same city and all and just got mixed up. But don't let it hapen again.

hilarious

i find this extremely hilarious! (maybe im just warped...). Get in an accident. Rely on one dealer for repairs, something must be wrong with the ROTARY ENGINE! lol. (i did read the post, i know ur not blaming the engine) I would question and lay fault the dealer that performed the repairs. Even dealerships that sell the vehicle may not have Master Rotary Mechanics on staff, so its a crapshoot who you get to work on your vehcicle. How about putting blame where (it seems) to lie? The dealership that repaired your vehicle. Or you can do what most ppl will not do, accept responsibility for your actions (hit a semi?). good luck with your new vehicle purchase, sorry to hear you had so many problems. I have had mine since Oct 2003 and no problems! (and right now, im knocking on wood...).

I completely understand why he's getting rid of the car. Bad expieriences can ruin something you love. It's the same sort of thing as a family moving because something horrible happened to them, like a death in the family. It's not like it was the house's fault, but they associate the place with the bad taste left over from unhappy events that occured there.

Good luck with your next car.

Someone understands! Thanks Colonel.

Update...
I should have known better. The Chevy body shop that did my repairs sent the car over to their sister Mazda dealership. The found a faulty speed sensor. Definetly a warranty item. So they are covering the $275 towing bill and will fix the car when the part arrives this thursday. Now I cant wait to go choke out the dealer I brought the car to first. Unfortunatly it is just too little too late. Ill probaly hang on to her till October and get a year end close out to try to offset the cost. The wife wants to go more for a sport/luxury sedan anyways.

There are some good ones out there. I like the new TL, and the G35 is a great car also, course they are both Japanese cars, like Mazda. Maybe a Lincoln LS or one of the German options.

Good luck whatever you decide

Notice that it's become an easy fix now that it got back to Mazda. Why the heck did you think that a Chevy dealership would know what to do with it in the first place? I don't know what to think of this, other than wtf. Really, what have you been smoking?

I would go with the TL for a luxary sedan, they're going cheap in NJ. If your budget is more limited, don't overlook the TSX. IMHO, it's every bit as nice as a Mercedes C-class for thousands less. No, optional V6 though. Then again, if you can afford a C320 v6, then you can get a TL or a G35. I wouldn't recommend the BMW 3-Series either, if you can't get the 3.0. (I think that's the bigger engine right?) I was thoroughly unimpressed with the 3 series. (Even the M! Great car, but I'd rather buy a Z06 for $55k, of course, far less luxary and only 2 seats.)

Make sure you get the rental car covered... at least from the time it went to Mazda through the time they deliver the fix.
