why anyone walks away from the anwer "its normal" without the explanation of whatit is/ why it is , is completly beyond me.

It's the tranmortifier coupling with the dual intake warpdrive (especially when the dilithium crystals are out of harmonic resonance when initially imbeded in the induction matrix)...
I HATE IT WHEN THE DILITHIUM GETS OUT OF RESONANCE!!!!

But it's totally ok, because, like I said, the link helped give me the gyst, which is good enough. So I really was seriously thanking you, not being sarcastic.
4g63 = model of engine
1g = 1st gen
2g = 2nd gen
DSM = Diamond Star Motors (manufacturer of 1st and 2nd gen talon/eclipse models)
as far as the crank angle sensor... that is why I provided the link. I thought my explanation made at least a little sense. But anyway... back to OUR problem...

on my car the ticking sounds like its coming from on top of the engine., i never noticed it before i had an accident and got the car back at first it sounded like it was coming from the front left tire area ,Iam about to bring the car back to get it loked at but if everyone says its normal i can live with it , can we get a concrete answer on this

I only recently started taking notice of the ticking noise myself, but mines makes it. Goes away after warmup though. It reminded me a lot of the same noise I heard while watching a clip of the rotors slowly spinning in a four rotor engine, and in that one it was the ports opening and closing.

I believe it is a thermal issue. Back when I didn't have an apartment, the car would remain outdoors at night. In the morning when starting it would make the ticking sound, causing me to investigate near the front of the vehicle. If I listened carefully it would cause me to investiate right above the front wheel wells.
Now that I have a garage, and the car stays nice and warm in the early morning while the other cars outside are all wet and cold condensated, it no longer makes the ticking sound in the morning.
