I've got 20% all the way around, 5% strip. All illegal, except the strip. It's a five inch strip, which is legal in Louisiana.

I rebooked my appointment with them for next saturday at 9am. I read on a forum how people got a cash deal (no tax) but then you wouldn't have the lifetime warranty. I plan on keeping my car so I'll take the warranty...

As RI tint laws are pretty brutal, I can only do 20% on the rear windows and nothing on the sides/front. Has anyone else done just the rear? How does it look and does it help keep the interior temps down?

Thanks

20% all the way around for a year now. 2 RI cops have stopped me (a trooper & a Johnston cop) and neither mentioned the tint at all. As long as you roll both windows down and are nice to 'em you should be fine.

Has it made a big difference in the temps inside the car? My car is bb and even on the few warm days we've had I've had to use the anemic AC. Since I'm doing the AP pulley, the AC is only going to get worse and I figure tint might help offset the issue. What are your thoughts?

hhmmm. The combo of tint + a $5 sun shade for the windshield works great while parked. When driving the temp is only controlled by open windows or AC, for the most part. The tint helps some in the spring & fall as long as the sun is not directly in front & blasting through the windshield.

So I guess the answer is no, tint doesn't make a big difference when you really need it to.

Was it you that I was behind on RT 37 yesterday @5.30?

I had to rethink my reply ^. I guess my opinion on how much tint controls cabin tent is invalid. I got the 8 in March 06, and tinted the windows by mid April, so I never really experienced the really warm weather w/o tint.

My SB8 with 35% ceramic tint

For anyone who is curious as to what 35% all around looks like, I took some pictures to post here on the forums:

Ouch. As others have stated on this thread, I'm sure, that is outrageous.

I have 35% on my driver/passenger windows and 20% in the back wings and rear window. I wish I had done 20% all around and may actually get the front doors changed.

I paid ~$200 US to have mine done by an independent shop.

It is illegal in Washington State to have anything more than 35% on a car on any window. SUV’s and trucks have special exemptions from these rules – The driver/passenger windows can be maximum 35% tint and the rest of the windows can be as dark as you’d like to go. That said I’ve never met anyone who has received a ticket for windows tinted beyond the limit.

I've got the metallic tint...35% all around, and it didn't have any effect on my factory navigation system at all...also haven't noticed any changes in my cell phone or radio signal. So I wouldn't worry about that.
