Tinting Windsheild

Tinting Windsheild
So we all know tinting your windsheild is illegal. I'm not talking about the 6 inch tint strip at the top of the windshield, I'm talking about the entire windshield.....So I work near the courthouse in Portland, Oregon and one side of the street on the north side of the building is designated parking for Government vehicles. So I'm walking to the courthouse and I see 4 chevy suburbans tinted to hell along with their windshields. Granted it looks bad ***, but why is it that the government is above the law. Really pisses me off.....
Anyone else seen government vehicles like this? And if they can do it, why can't we?

in cali, we cant even have the front windows tinted that dark... im sure its for safety reasons as well as the cops want to know who is in the car and what you are doing as much as possible...

tinting the windshield should make it harder to see while driving at night
but yea, tinting is a safety concern for officers. the best thing to do, if ever pulled over at night is to completely roll down both windows and turn on all interior lights. makes the officer feel safer, you could probably get off on a warning.... could

My second job is with the government and when I use their vehicles they all have very darkly tinted windows in them. It is a "security" issue as to why they are allowed the darker windows. It makes it harder for people to distinguish where anyone is situated inside the vehicle, who is actually in there, and how many people, in case they are shot at or are transporting certain types of people.
Yes, it is harder to see out of the windows in those cars at night!!!!

I've seen more than a few cars in this town with tint on the front.

every government/police vehicle i've ever tinted has been done illegally. their vehicles are exempt from the laws. i now refuse to do it for em. fug 'em. if i can't do it to my vehicle why in the hell should i do it to theirs? these fockers drive around in their illegally tinted cars ticketing people for too dark of tint. hypocrits that think they're above the law. they ask me to do their personal vehicles illegal too. ain't gonna happen.
i can see doing a windshield in 50%. you can hardly even tell it's there. but since it's illegal i don't do it. that's the reason so many states have such screwed tint laws....because so many tinters didn't follow the decent ones they had to begin with.

I think the pigs.. oops police guys.. are a little more leanient down here in florida... being the sun is hot and shines all the time but i thtink they will only mess with you when its late at night and they can use it for probable cause to pull you over to see if they can get you for something else... i think mines around 20 all around and my eclipse was 5% all around and i never got pulled over either... but yea. it is for the " saftey " for our nations finest... and i dont blame them either being a criminal justice grad myself.. i dont wanna walk up on a car that i cant see in...

In Minnesota there are some nuances to the tint laws. I'm not a lawyer, but after reading the statutes on tinting, it appears that any level of tinting that comes direct from the manufacturer is legal. Otherwise here it's 50%, even in back- which really sucks. I'm pretty sure a lot of SUV /Minivan type vehicles come with less than 50% transferance in the back windows.
