My light comes exactly 10 minutes after I start the car, every time. I have the stock tires with proper inflation. The light is flashing, not steady, which I believe means there is something wrong with the sensor.

I have been to the dealer twice and they have not fixed it. I am giving it one more try before I call Mazda NA about it.

Mugatu,

That's the same thing that happens when I chnage to snow tires. The computer needs to know the sensors have been changed. You might check this thread and look at the "Wheel Swap" section to see if this address your issue.

Whealy, thanks. I'll print that out and bring it with me. The last two times I brought it I specifically told the dealer that the light comes on 10 minutes after start up, and both times I got it back with a response that they saw no light come on. now I KNOW they are bullshitting me since it happens every time I start the car up...I just know they probably turned the car on and saw no light, so their job was done.

Hopefully your highlighted thread does the trick.

Mine was coming on in the mornings..or any time it was < 74 deg. F. Typical seasonal change. I went all around one morning and checked for 32psi...had to put air in all of them. The lowest was 25

mine is definitely not pressure related. Besides the fact the both I and the dealer checked for proper inflation, the light is flashing, not steady. I believe that when pressure is off in either direction, the light will come on steady. The flashing light indicates a problem with the sensor itself.

I noticed mine was on the second day I had it. Checked all pressures and they were off by 3-5 psi per tire. I have a feeling that this Tire Pressure Monitor keeps you on your toes but it seemed to work ok for me.

I had the light flashing after my 7500 maintenaince. It would flash for the first 10 minutes or so then stop. A few days later my car wouldn't start. I checked the battery cables first and it had come off. Put the negative cable back on and tightened it (since the dealership didn't do it). After that the car started light was flashing again then went away after 10 minutes or so. So then I turned it off. On the next start up did the same thing. This time I drove it for about and hour or so. On the next start up and still today, no flashing light.

JJE,

Check the link to the TSB I posted above. It would seem that you stumbled on the same solution they have. The idea is you have to tell the system to re-register the sensors.

I have a bad one. Can't get Mazda to replace it.

Sensor works but leaks air consistently.

It sounds like your tires are not set to 32 PSI cold. Try checking them first thing in the morning before you start driving while the tires are still cold.

The light turns off because as you drive, the tire pressure goes up several PSI as the tires warm up.

My light keeps coming on as well. Usually after the car sits for a day, but sometimes will come on even without sitting. Took it to the dealer, they had it overnight, and just said "couldn't duplicate customer's complaint" - next day the light came on again. Haven't had a chance to deal with it again yet.

Noticed that this A.M. on the way to work the Pressure lite stayed on. The Tire Press. was fine though on the way home no lite so I guess it was just an intermittant thing.

the service guys couldnt duplicate your tpms light because they kept in a place with a different, probably warmer, over night temp then where you normally keep it. check your pressures in the morning before you move the car. then add or subtract air to bring them to 32-34 psi based on that reading you took before you moved. if you have to drive to get air add or subtract the amount you needed when you checked before you moved. if you drive AND THEN check the pressures and add or subtract based on that measure your pressures will be off again in the morning.

your tires were warmer on the way home. thats why no light. check the pressures in the morning and do what i said above.

also while i know mugatu sems to actually have a problem the rest of you just sound like you need to adjust your tire pressures.

WOW! Mine just came on today for the first time after 4k miles and 4 months.. Started fricking out to no AVAIL. But today here in Florida it was sub 80 degrees for the first time in my ownership. Checked all 4 tires psi: 29-31. After reading this thread I believe the TPMS monitors tire air temp and not PSI....... Learn something new every day. I just hope it lets me know when the tire is really flat since I gotz no spare!

AND DON'T GIVE ME THAT CRAP ABOUT SAVING WEIGHT IN "TRUE" SPORTS CARS THAT YOU PRINTED IN MY DE-BRIEF BROCHURE IN THE GLOVEBOX! HEHE
