Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Guys I need some help on this:
I recently purchased a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 and I also have a 2004 Mazda RX8 which I have to return in March (Leased) so I went ahead and swaped the wheels between the RX8 and the MS6 for a couple of reasons:
-RX8 wheels are wider and lighter than the MS6 wheels (18x8 compared to 18x7)
-Tires on the RX8 are also wider (225/40/18 compared to 215/45/18)
-RX8 wheels have more offset so this makes the MS6 look more agressive and better handling.
-MS6 wheels are a PAIN IN THE BUTT to keep clean.
The thing is that the MS6 I have does not have Tire pressure monitoring sys. while the RX8 does and now the light on the RX8 is on because it cannot find the sensors since they are on the MS6. My question is if I can remove the sensors from the RX8 wheels and put them on the MS6 wheels (The MS6 GT pakg has Tire Pressure monitoring)
Has anyone removed the sensors from the wheels with out any problems??

I can't help you with your question regarding removing/reinstalling the tire pressure sensors, but, I do have a question:
How is swapping the wheels going to effect your lease when you turn in the 8 with the lesser wheels?

Well, since we're talking about the tire pressure monitoring system.. I wanted to buy some aftermarket tires, -- When I change them, is there any way I can add the TPMS on to the new wheels? Or would I need to just buy other OEM's..

So, Mr. FX-RX8, who pays for the "real rims" in this situation? You, or the dealer? Or, do you just decide to live with the "quality" rims? Sorry, but I don't buy your "quality" mantra for a moment. You're obviously out to take advantage of the dealer (or at least, try).

Heck, my car was purchased without the TPMS, now they wont pay for it because they never got it when it was traded in. Of course I ripped the CD changer, rear hatch cover and other stuff on the car i traded in. That's just part of trading in a car.

Lessor was misspelled above. It means that the RX-8 wheels are property of the leasing company being leased to you. The RX-8 wheel are in fact LESSOR wheels, and unless you have a cool/clueless Mazda guy, he is probably going to want them back.

You need to dismount the tires and remove the TPMS/valve stem assemblies and swap them to the Mazdaspeed 6 wheels. Then mount those wheels to the rx-8, set the CORRECT tire pressure, and drive for about ten miles. The light should turn off.

Put the RX-8 wheels back on the RX-8. I can guarantee you that the leasing company will want those wheels back. It's not worth it for you to buy new size tires for the MS6 in the RX-8 wheel fitment and end up returning the wheels in the end. Buy someone else's RX-8 wheels if you really want them, they're not that expensive.

Dont Have To Return The Rx-8 Wheels!!!!

I just got back from the dealer (Gunther Mazda, Ft. Lauderdale) and I had a chat with the Lease Return Manager and he told me strait up front that as long as the car has Factory OEM Alloys 18" with TPMS then I had nothing to worry about, mainly thanks to the policy of Mazda American Credit (who I leased the RX8 and financed the MS6 from) that states that as long as OEM Mazda Wheels of the same size are on the car its all good.

And youre gonna believe what he says without seeing anything in writing....
If you want to have half a snowball's chance in hell of getting away with this, you better go through your leasing agreement with a fine tooth comb (and hope the guy who inspects your car is either clueless (not likely), doesn't care (maybe), or is really cool (even less likley).
also keeping in mind that you can find factory RX-8 18" wheels in ebay for about $99 each in mint condition, Is it worth the risk of getting accused of trying to rip off the lease?
(you probably have a "no modifications" clause hidden in your lease agreement somewhere and it is a matter of their opinion VS yours in that case. They made the rules, they will win that argument.)

Hey does anybody know exactly how these sensors respond?
I have had them beep and the tire light is on when I started the car. The tire light stays on but no more beep.
I drove a few miles turned the car off. Restarted the car the tire light was on but no beeping.
Also I have started the car after sitting overnight and the tire light is lit but no beeping.
Tire pressure was low in all cases at 29-30 pounds compared to 31-32 pounds in all other wheels.
Filled to 32 pounds and no light or beeping.
This doesn't sound right. Shouldn't the beeping happen more often as long as the tire light is lit?
Comments appreciated.
I have an 04 velocity red MT with aero package.

To answer youre question, NO the beep occurs one time and one time only, the light stays on untill you address the problem with which ever tire is going low. Also keep in mind that drop in out side temp also affects these sensors so you might have youre tires properly inflated but the sensor will still tell you wrong.
