On the today show 12/4/06
morning all...i was sitting in my home office this morning and I always have the today show on while i work....lo and behold they have AAA of DC on talking about how to prepare for a winter storm when youre out in your car....
so i turned my head to look at the TV and they are demonstrating some things to have in the trunk of your car etc...ie food, flashlight, kitty litter. etc
i didnt at first recognize the car cuz we were just looking in the trunk and im not really awake....so they pan to the rear wheel and all of a sudden i see its an RX8
wow....they are using an RX8 to demo....i got excited....w00t!!! we are making the news.....
then i got a little dismayed cuz they had a steel snow shovel propped up against the front fender and things laying on the hood ie a battery charger and other toxic-to-the-paint stuff ...NO RESPECT....
btw it was a BB....
did anyone else see it....

I wish they would hire the BB 8 to co-host. Fire Matt Lauer, put those goofy eyelids on the lights and put in next to Meredith Vieira. It could STILL out-debate Tom Cruise on psychiatry.

I saw that...and out of all cars to do a "winter driving safety" feature on...I saw the rim first and said damn that looks like an 8...
I have also seen quite a few car makers are knocking off the RX8 wheel...Saw a new Lexus on the road and I would have sworn it was on RX8 wheels but just a smidge diffrent...

haha, yeah i saw this earlier today, just flipping through and i was like those altezza lights look familar. The trunk lid was open and i was trying to figure out what car is that? LOL. Looked like the Altezza from the new Jag XK so i thought lol.
They pan the camera over to the wheel and i'm like haha its an RX-8. made me want to watch the entire segment just for the car. I also did get a little pissed inside for the shovel leaning against the front fender and how they had the Door lock de-icer can on the hood of the car. I thought they were gonna spray it on a clean RX-8 door lock.
Overall, i bet i wasn't the only one who probably wondered what car it was. It's not like they said, hey today we have an RX-8 for our AAA winter driving segment lol.
I was kind of laughing when they said to put kitty litter around the tire and put your floor mat in front of the rear tire to gain traction lol. I was laughing cause i'm thinking that most likely is a summer tire on the RX-8 lol. good luck gettin traction in the snow with a summer tire, kitty litter or no kitty litter. suprised they didnt mention how some cars if not all should consider getting winter tires or make sure they aren't summer tires like the car shown today.

wow...seriously. I understand being prepared for an emergency, but unless your driving through the arctic tundra of alaska, I don't see any reason why you'd need all that CANNED FOOD. I just thought it was funny...half of his trunk was taken up with junk.
then again, i'm not really one to speak about safety...i don't even have a spare tire. lol.
It did seem like a rather ironic car to list for winter safety.

I saw that, too! My boyfriend leaves his TV on all night while he sleeps (don't ask me why), so, since I usually wake up much earlier than him I was happening to notice it. So, I rolled over and started shaking him (his alarm had gone off and he was refusing to get up, LOL) going "Look, look! There's an RX-8 on TV!" He just kinda mumbled something, rolled over, and went back to sleep. Men!!!!

Typical morning television panic piece aimed at the soccer moms who might lose their way driving home from WalMart and are forced to decide whether to eat their kids or snack on the variety of canned foods in their trunk. Hopefully low-fat and low-sodium canned foods.
Being a D.C.-area piece, I'm surprised the guy didn't have an arsenal of weapons stacked back there "just in case".

Who has time to watch tv in the morning???
Sleep every last second, then go to work.
But it is pretty funny that they used an 8. AAA knows where it's at!
Well, I'm off to stock up on canned goods . . .

Ok Just watched the segment and anyone know how when Tom went to put the can of de-icer back on the hood of the car, the other guy pretty much just ripped it outa his hands before he placed it back down haha.. I'm sure the AAA guy was the owner and placed all those items carefuly as hell. I'm surprised the guy didnt explode at him when he kept on fidgeting with the shovel. I myself would of lost it. haha
