Too extreme a response??

Too extreme a response??
I dunno, but I'm beginning to feel like I may have over reacted. . .
I was walking out of the supermarket heading towards my car. About 15 or so yards in front of me is a woman carrying two paperbags of groceries in one arm while talking on the phone. She is walking towards an SUV parked next to my RX8. To my horror and astonishment she plopped her bags of groceries on to my trunk so that she could dig her keys out of her purse. Seeing this my pace quickened and I was at my car as she was opening her tailgate. She appeared not to notice me, yaking on the phone, and "dragged" one of her bags off my trunk placing it in her car. This is when I lost it, and I picked up her other bag and tossed it toward the back of her car. As it crashed to the ground, spilling the contents, she spun around looking shocked. I casually opened my door, started the car, and drove away. Inspection of the trunk revealed no dents or damage only scuffs in my wax job. Was I out of line?

I would have done one thing different - instead of casually tossing her other bag toward the opened tailgate, I would have taken it off my car and walked to the front of her, placing it on her front hood.
Then, in a very firm yet kind tone, I would say, "Don't ever put something on someone else's car - you dont' know when they might have a much harsher reaction than I just did!"
But Bravo to you!

i would say thats right on the line of being to much, although here in FL you can get a lot of fine sand on your car and dragging something accross the surface can leave a lot of fine scratches.
I would have taken my groceries and set them on top of her car (even an SUV) and acted like nothing was going on and loaded up my stuff, same as here.

Probably. I know we're all quite protective of our 8s, but put yourself in her shoes. If both of your arms were occupied by packages, one hand on a phone, and your keys in your pocket, you'd need to put the packages down too in order to open your trunk. Would you stoop all the way down to put the stuff on the ground, or would you find a place for them at waist level?
Maybe next time, a simple "let me help you with that" and lift the bag off your trunk properly and stow it in her vehicle. Then an informational "you know, some cars, like mine, have trunk lids made of softer metals that can dent easily. You might want to be more careful next time so as not to accidentally cause a dent!"
That said, I still understand why you lost your cool.

^hahaha, yeah just casually just eased her bag in your car and casually drove off and placed them atop a much larger suv a few rows down, that would have confused and baffled the suspect
----i chased a guy on the interstate one day when i noticed him slam his car door into mine--- so i give you props for standing up to the biotch

Not extreme at all. Amazing how uncaring and rude people can be to others property. Apparantly you ruined some of her groceries costing her some money. Maybe she will realize you don't appreciate her possibly scratching your car costing you alot more money. I cannot believe she did that. As bad as those idiots sitting on someone's car in another thread on here.

im not sure i would have flung her stuff down but im sure i would have flipped on her too....but then again she sounded like one of those oblivious women who drive suv's, talk on the cell phone and crash into people type.....so its good you gave her some sort of awakening!

LOL, perhaps a bit harsh. Then again, I probably would have taken my shoe and put it up on her door handle to tie my laces and then let it drag downward against her car. Then, if she was being a female dog about it, I would have finished by using her hood as a seat while I called a friend. If she tried to drive off with me on there, good. I'll probably break something and get enough money to payoff my current college loans and not have to take out any more.

Where are these people being raised? I would no more use someone else's car for a grocery shelf than I would use their head for one. Unchecked selfishness in an adult is often too bizarre for me to understand.
To be honest I have no idea how I actually would have reacted. She acted like a spoiled child. You treated her like a spoiled child. So far so good. My only fear is that since you didn't explain your actions she may not get the point. Scary thought, but this woman obviously doesn't engage her brain on a daily basis. GotZoom's response would have had a (slightly) better chance of educating her.
But your response was alot more fun. :D

I'm sure she probably didn't get off the phone to drive off either. I really think the laws should change and that if your on the phone and you get in accident you waive all your legal rights that protect you from assault and battery for 1 hour after the accident.

NOT EXTREME ENOUGH, if you ask me. If she would have not had her head burried in the damn phone that women in SUV's cant seem to do without - she might not have had to bee so rude by putting her crap on your car.
I have no respect for people who cant respect my property.
I'd have been much more rude. But hey! Thats me - Im an ******* somtimes. She better be happy it wasn't a baby in a basket on your car :p
One favorite thing i like to do when I see a large SUV parked over two lines or right up on the line just inches away from my car is leave them a little note if I cant speak with them directly.
My littel note says:
"If you can't drive it, don't buy it!"
Like I said, I can be an ******* sometimes.

I like the idea of taking the groceries...I may have even been kind enough to muster a "thank you" and drove off.....haha
But seriously...no respect...I sympothize with you, not her. She was an ignorant you know what. I'm sorry...if you can't get to your keys, you obviously weren't thinking in the first place...when you should have had the keys in your hand and not the cell phone....and you NEVER use someone else's car as a parcel shelf! If you can't carry it, use a cart! (Than of course she'll send the cart flying into your car leaving a nice ol' dent and long scratch down the side)
No respect....just sickening. Beat 'em over the head with their own groceries. :D

I would have either 1) Done what you did, or 2) Took the grocery and put it in my trunk, got into the car, and drove off... afterall it's on your property, it's your's.
I would love for that lady to try that here in So Cali. I'm sure the situation would be much worse... ranging from a frivolous lawsuit, to getting 'capped' in the ***. Depending on the area you go in So Cali.
And it wasn't out of line

This reminds me of...
Lance: Still got your Malibu?
Vincent Vega: Aw, man. You know what some ****** did the other day?
Lance: What?
Vincent Vega: ******* keyed it.
Lance: Oh, man, that's fucked up.
Vincent Vega: Tell me about it. I had it in storage for three years, it was out for five days and some dickless piece of **** fucked with it.
Lance: They should be ******* killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.
Vincent Vega: Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that ******* doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.
Lance: What a ******!
Vincent Vega: What's more chickenshit than ******* with a man's automobile? I mean, don't **** with another man's vehicle.
Lance: You don't do it.
Vincent Vega: It's just against the rules.

I got a story, might be a little more extreme, it wasn't even a very nice car but it was my car.
I'm waiting on a stop sign and this teenage kid comes up selling roses, I told him I didn't want any. He kept trying and finally sat on my hood as to make me buy a rose. I was so mad that I launched the car very hard and he flew to the street and roses were everywhere... He didn't break anything, maybe some street rash. I felt good and bad at the same time... :p

Imagine all the other cars she's been using as temporary stopovers before her trunk. Good job!
I probably would have shotputted the bag in the trunk of her suv so it exploded all over the place inside.
