Too Much Oil? Any help would be appreciated!
Hey guys new to the forums here and will be posting pics once I get my carbon fiber pieces done. I have an 04 w/37k on it and it has been running pretty good. I just picked the car up about 3,000 miles ago and changed the plugs and have changed the oil religiously.
However last night I put a full quart of 5w30 oil in (I dont know what my mechanic put in at my last oil change) and since then it is running pretty rough. At high RPM's it is ok but at the low RPM's the engine has a deeper tone and it vibrates a little at the low RPM's when you come to a stop. Something just doesnt feel right.
My question is whether or not it is possible that I put too much oil in and that is why it is running differently? Could it be the mixture of 5w20 w/5w30? Anything else that I should be worried about? With all of the talk of engine failure I am just worried? I hope that it just had a bit too much oil in it and that it will work itself out.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

OK......I'll bite
Check the damn oil...is it too full???
If it's only a bit high it won't cause any problems.......more than about 1/4" drain some out....ot take it somewhere to have it done.
Mixing the oil will do noting...forget about it...it's not important
Figure that out and see if it changes your problem...if not then re-post and we'll come up with other ideas......like you forgot to tighten the oil cap...or knocked off one of the vac lines...and you now have a vac leak....

Well, where is the oil level on the dipstick? You did check the level as you added oil, right?
If the level is a little bit over the full mark, like 1/8"-1/4", it's no big deal. However, if some of the oil you added went into the breather/intake pipe and contaminated the air filter and MAF/IAT sensor, that could account for the apparent erratic behavior. There are numerous threads about accessing the air filter and cleaning the MAF sensor, so do a search and read.
In the future, search first, read threads, then ask questions!

He didn't even get to the point where searching or reading was appropriate...he missed the part where he should have checked his dipstick.
On the amount of acceptable overfill...when the dealer changes Zoomy's oil, they fill to the top of the flat on the dipstick. Probably closer to 3/8 than 1/4 inch over, although I never put a ruler to it. If the level is linear, then it's almost 1/2 quart over. No oil in the intake, so that much overfill seems OK.
