I took my boys (7 and 11) up to John Elway Mazda last night to see what I hope will be my car and take it for a test drive. This is the only dealer in town that has a Red one with the GTP and Red and black leather seats with the Navigation system in stock. I have been talking with a sales gal for weeks and it just seemed like it was time to go on up and check it out.

We pulled up and were greeted outside by a very young (brunette) and attractive sales gal no older than I'd guess 22. I had called and told her that we were coming up. I had told my boys on the way up that I had a feeling that she might be kind of cute because she sounded it on the phone.

Anyway we looked at the one that I want for a bit before taking her out for a ride. I think my boys were just as excited as Dad!! LOL... She got the keys and we all got in and took her for a nice long test drive. I love the feel you get sitting in this car to drive. Totally different from anything I have ever driven. Feels a lot like a cockpit!! Very cool! I was a bit nervous about pushing the car but the gal I think really wanted me too so I did just a little. On one of the first turns she told me to cut it loose and see how well she hugs the road. I flew around that corner and was very impressed. I love the way this car handles. I could see my boys just beaming in the back seat through the rear view mirror all along the ride.

After driving around for a while on the back street we took it out on the highway. I was totally impressed. Even at 65 you could feel the power. If I had wanted to I could have passed anyone I wanted. Great passing power at those speeds is something I have never had. It was really fun. We were getting lots of looks from others I could see too as we were driving. But my favorite was just classic!! We had stopped waiting for a light and this guy pulled around the corner into the street we were coming out of and he took a double take and I watched him check out every inch of the car. It was so funny. He wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Just staring as his head turned all the way as he drove past. :D

Anyway we must have been out for twenty to thirty minutes. I didn't want to take it back. Such a fun car to drive and I have never owned anything that got that kind of attention.

I parked the car back in the lot and we just checked it all out for a while before leaving. But I really didn't want to go home without it. So why did I? I am waiting for funding to come through for a new company I am going to start working for which should happen any week now. As soon as it does that car is mine!!

I want to get it fully loaded but this car doesn't have anything but the stuff I listed above. I will have to have the rest added when it all comes in. Spoiler, Appearance package strakes, window tint etc...

I'll post picts when I get it!! Man that was fun!! I can't imagine how much fun it would be to drive every day!!

 

you want it fully loaded? i assumed when you said GTP you mean grand touring package, the only other thing would be navigation and i guess the little chrome thingies everywhere. anyhow, glad you enjoyed your ride, hope you join the rest of us owners soon =)

 

There are actually several packages other than the nav.

they include:

1. GTP
2. Appearance package
3. Rotary accent package
4. Navigation
5. Spare tire kit

I have all of these in my red/black leather on red 8

 

Not sure I am going to get the spare tire kit. But there are some little things like the exhaust finishers, courtesy lights, and red leather shift **** and parking brake I want to add to the other things listed. :D They are even going to put a clear bra on the front for me.
