Top Gear magazine Article: Rx8 vs. Crossfire vs. 350z vs. TT
Im sorry if this is old.
I bought the latest BBC Top Gear magaizine and in it there were TWO seperate articles featuring the RX8.
One was a brief review of the UK version of the car with 228hp.
the other was a comparison review, done in the U.S.A. of a uS Spec Rx8 (6speed), 350z Track, Audi TT 225 Q. and the new Chrysler Crossfire.
No formal test equipment was used for numbers. This was a 'driver' review of how the cars felt. They specifically went into the desert and 'raced' each other.
Of particular note is that they kept referring to the RX8 as having 228hp and that even then it felt much weaker. Also note, they SPECIFICALLY siad the car made NO MORE POWER after 6K rpm. I know this has been stated on the forum.
Another note: they performed an unscientific rolling start 'drag' race for each car. The C-fire and TT were first to go...the C-fire won. the C-fire then BEAT the RX8. Yes, the C-Fire beat the RX8. They said they never would have bet that, but the C_Fire had better pull all the way to 80MPH and even then the RX8 was hurting to cath up. The 350z then spanked the C-fire.
In the twisties the RX8 and Z were always way ahead of the game. However, the review did favor the Z in every category of the 'driver feel'. Which I found interesting, as most other reviews I read favored the RX8's ride.
In any case...it was a great article and one that you should check out.
