i thought all rx8's had the same top speed glad to read and learn something.

i've been 145mph on the highway at 3am testing it. I can't get any faster *shrugs*

You must mean 200 kilometers per hour. You would have to have a TON of mods to do that. Do you have anykind of idea how much horsepower is required to go that fast. A Ferrari F430 doesn't even break 200 mph. And please explain why they would send a car with less power here to the US and more powerful cars elswhere?

 

That's a fool waiting to die, just like the orginal poster who wants to do 125mph plus on the street.

Take it to the track and get some lessons too.

oh yeah i was. hwy 6 out passed hillsboro headed to tillamook is fun too. its new so it really smooth. are you in the seattle area?

 

i have the factory spoiler. i dont think it really does much. i changed lanes at 125-130 and didn't feel the *** end floating or anything...

Those of you that go 100 mph in 4th should never be seen complaining about gas milage!!!!!

Going at those speeds on public roads is just retarded. You could die or kill others...
Top speed is kind of irrelevant.... if you want to race, go to the track.... and most tracks won't allow you to mantain 125 mph for long periods of time anyways.... (you have to slow down on turns, etc...)

 

Wow wtf...The RX8 should be able to hit 150 without much problem. My prelude maxes out at 150. I know it does 135 without much struggle because I have done it with RPM's to spare.

 

Um no I'm not....I did 135 and I was still at 6300 RPMs or so. My rev limit is at 8k.

don't be in such disbelieve if a lil 'ol prelude can top 120, hell it can do 140 no prob.

maybe big brother is stepping in on these newer cars and limiting its top speed, who knows? but if it is... don't be in denial, go get the motha chipped if top speed is all your after.

 

i'm positive the RX-8 can top 150... but i don't care to try to find out. 140 was quite adrenaline rushing for me as it is, and that was kinda lame for me to do so back then.

hasn't someone already found out what this thing tops out at?

obviously street is quite dangerous. anyone has achieved higher than 155 at a track with this?...

 

The most I've seen people do is top out at 149. The governor is set at 145mph. Also, our car can not go over 155 due to its aerodynamics.

 

Um yes it can. Why do you think it cant? Look at a gearing chart for it. The 5g prelude has to hit the rev limit but it tops out at 150.

 

I dont know about prelude ... I hit 153 today while driving up north .... Wanted to take a video/pic ... But I was too sacred to do that at THAT speed ... Gotta keep both my hands on the wheel ....I'm still happy I hit it :D

 

gearing charts dont factor in mother nature

 

yea ... Gotta take in consideration of air drag , condition of the road and probably weight of the car(if u have A LOT of ppl in it)
