Now now, be fair, not everyone is as net savy as the folks that usually haunt these pages.

I was able to get my car up around 140mph on a track here in Texas, but its a MT.

If you do some research on the RX8, you'll find that they had to strip out about...oh...40 hp or so, which meant cutting down on the RPM's, so that the AT transmission could handle the engine, so, as a result, the AT has a lower top speed.

And where did you manage to get it up to 120 MPH?

I will be nice and just say that I had my AT to 130 and felt it could have gone faster, had it not been for the quality of road I was on. It seems when a repeat question is posed, some people have to smart off instead of helping the new people out. Welcome.

I would be the first to help new people , but if you read all his Threads it seemed to me this was all a scam. So thats why i started in . Sorry if i was wrong. The automatic stops at 125 and tha manual at 145. If this is for real i am truly sorry. I too have a RX8 automatic sports car, with the m flash, secret compartment and i would never do donuts in it.

-8- Very creative LMAO.

Question is, why would anyone want to go faster than 120 MPH. No offence, but I see these dumb asses on the news every day in L.A. street racing, and it's always some innocent geezer who gets greased. Do you have any idea what happens to the human body when you lose control going that fast and crash? I don't care about the ******* racing, but the regular innocent people alway pay the tab.

Smarten up, eat more fish (brain food)

Have you ever driven on the 15 into Vegas on a Sunday afternoon? 120+ just isn't unreasonable there. I have been up there in a friend's S4 doing 144 without passing anyone. There's nothing to hit, no geezers to great, etc. etc.

Not every drive has to be at 17mph on Wilshire Boulevard or we'd all drive mopeds.

I dont know about US models, but over here JDM models are limited to 180kmh fuel supply is cut when you reach that. You could remove the electronic limiter in the ECU but the electronic speedo will still read 180 even if you are way over that... which makes it very dangerous...
As for the top speed, I dont know how fast the chassis of RX8 can handle, but Option the Japanese tuning magazine did an RX8 shootout a few issues back, and the fastest RX8 in that issue did like 235km/h.

That would be due to the fact that Vegas rocks!!! and more peopl have died on that streach of freeway than in the city of Las Vegas!!!.

Thumbs up Does not go faster than 150 MPH...

Hi, I currently race in the Pro Formula Star Mazda North American Championship. It is an open wheel series that uses the Renesis engine on the race car. The weight of the Formula car is about 1200 Lbs. We race in tracks where there are long straights and the highest speed I've seen so far is 148 MPH. And not only these cars are light but they also don't have too much drag.... I also own a RX-8 and I am a bit dissapointed with the Gas Mileage.... For more info on the series go www.starmazda.com. It is televised on Speed Channel like 1 or 2 weeks after each race.
