Wow, there is a lot of doom and gloom around the forums recently about Mazda never making a rotary again. I don't know that I agree. I think they have marketted the 8 poorly and the combination of uniformed public (with bad memories of rotary motors) with no hype about the car have contributed even more than reliability problems to the unpopularity of the car. The RX-7 had way more reliability problems and sold like hotcakes. I think Mazda is definitely going to release another rotary car. They haven't put the R&D into the 16X etc to just throw it away. It may be made in limited numbers for the first run, but if they can get the reliability figures up from the RX-8 and increase the power I think it will sell.

Well I dont mean to be selfish but its a win win for us.
If they scrap the rotary, our car is an instant classic.
If they keep it, we'll get to watch the rotary evolve and see some cool cars.
