I have the same car 05mt no DSC, and it's been raining and cold and I still have the stock tires. I must say they absolutely SUCK when cold, and even more when wet.
And like the above posts mentioned just don't pull your foot off the gas. If you do the *** will come around on you quick as I'm sure you already know

I learned very quickly that this car does not like the throttle being closed quickly. Never got in trouble (many miles under my belt, in lots of different kinds of cars) but it was pretty distinctive.

Meh, it was the first time I've driven a RWD sports car in the rain. It was a learning experience and a mistake I don't plan to make again. I think I'll stick with my Grand Am for rain/snow if I can help it, but I'm checking into some winter tires now

I was considering an rsx also!!! I am so glad I got the 8.. I always turn the traction controll off anyways, I feel like it takes away from me controlling the car, if I want to let off the gas, Ill do it. I dont want the car doing it for me. I really still dont see how that is happening I havent had a single issue with spinning, **** half the time I want to I cant Goodluck with it all though, you need to find some empty area when it rains and just put the car into slides to learn to control it.. thats what I did with my frst rwd car (02 mustang gt). It really helped alot.

If you're spinning out of control while accelerating, you obviously cant drive. Its like oh, i feel my car going out of control but i'll keep my foot on the gas...
the car has power (though i dunno why people say it doesnt)... the rx8 has great feel and feedback and there should be no reason you cant tell what the car is doing.. you have to let up off the gas or push the clutch in (and counter steer if you get too far out)...
rsx... boourns.

when in spin, both feet in. when in doubt, both feet out.
that is, if you are in a spin, put both feet in, on the clutch and the brake. if you dont know, that is, if you are on the edge. take both feet out. as stated before though, dont just withdraw.
everything about driving at the limit, whether racing or losing control, is about balance. you dont want to further upset the balance of your car. think about rocking water back and forth in a glass, rock too much. the water spills.
