Totaled
got into an accident today on the freeway, this girl hit me from behind and destroyed the back of my rx8, and made me hit another car in front of me. my 8 is pretty much done with. thinking about having it totaled and having this dumb bitch pay for my car.
it sucks, i loved my rx8. i have 2004 rx 8 with 48,000 miles.
anybody know where i can find out how much my car is worth?
if anyone has any good advice to have her pay me good money i would
greatly appreciate it. or any other type of advice when u have to total your car
going to the doctors tomorrow too and have her pay that because my neck is sore from snappin back so hard.
thanks a lot guys

Insurance determine your car's value based on 3 of the most recent "average" value of your same model year and make.
so lets say, there 3 same yr rx-8 sold for :
150
300
150
Your car's totalled value will be something like 200 bucks. but since she is hitting you, she will be responsible for it, and MOST of the time, your insurance will try to get more first. say, your car's final value should be 200, your insurance will ask their insurance for 300. then they will work out the number.
Im 99.99999% sure they will totalled your car. I think your car worth something like 9-10K. and if the repair would cost MORE than 1/3 of the amount they will just totaled it. (and trust me, its easy to have repairs MORE than 3K. a new trunk cover cost couple hundred already, rear bumper another 400, and your front ... and so and so.)
you can actually sue her, saying that she hit you for no reason and now you're afraid of driving and such and such. if you are going this route to teach her a lesson so she will never drive again, you will need to get a good lawyer thats very good at these cases (a lot of them around)

Thanks for the pics. It doesn't look that bad from the pics, but let us know what the adjuster said.
If you're hard up for money, sometimes getting an 8 totaled isn't the best thing since they don't have great resale value and you'll have to put in money to get the same, comparable or better.
Dang inattentive drivers.

Bam, when you settle with the insurance company you're entitled to the retail value, not wholesale. You're also entitled to the amount of sales tax. Essentially, they should give you a check that would let you walk on to a good used car lot and buy a car just as good as the one you lost.
You also have the option of collecting from your own collision coverage, and letting your company deal with hers. Yours can be better to deal with since a) you're their customer, and b) they know they'll be collecting from hers.
Since you have a possible injury (you're seeing a doctor) see a lawyer before you even talk to her insurance company. Or before you make use of any of the advice anyone here gives you.
