The loss of value means he has to ultimately put in more for the same car, which is something his dad would remind him of. The gas mileage issue is always there, especially for a teen in college. Therefore I predict he gets a Mustang GT (cheaper, more HP, more signs of **** craftsmanship that teenagers love to love), Acura TSX (cheaper and better mileage), or waits for the new Lexus IS (the IS250 will be cheaper and better mileage).
Do you know Matt? Or are you just making this up as you go along?

Wondering,

Well, I am definitely NOT going for a Mustang GT, as for what is going to happen in the future...I have no idea...I want another RX8 though, it saved my life, I have pictures I just have to scan them, they will be up later tonight hopefully.

Glad you're okay Matt! Now if my 8 was totaled I think I would consider either waiting for the Mazdaspeed FI version to come out OR just by another 8 now - maybe another '04 and a dirt cheap price. ...OR BOTH! :D

BTW, I think silver is the most popular color for 8s and thus more are driven and more get wrecked too.

Glad you are OK. You did not answer as to how the girl in the other car was...hopefully she came out of the wreck fine too. Do you have gap insurance? Keep us posted as to your saga....

The girl that turned in front of me seemed to be fine, she did not feel she had to go to the hospital, but I guess they wanted her to so she did. I am not sure how she is because she did not really speak english that well. I have AAA insurance.

woww. it looks like that front end crumpled just as designed for maximum safety. A+ to Mazda for that. it hurts to look at that though. i can understand why it brought you to tears.

Too bad... ok ok sorry.

Are they even going to charge her with anything for cutting in front of you like that? I hope so. And what a POS she's driving too, I guess when they drive something like that they just don't care.

Glad you're OK. If you do get an 8, I know silver is nice and all.. but there are other colors that are no so cursed :D

Thanks guys for everything, it is helping me through it all, I honestly cannot wait to get a new 8. The fun of shopping for a new car again...FOR FREE!!! it is painful looking at the photos again though...believe me...
As for making her pay for what she did...I dont know if they will charge her, I know she went to the hospital so her condition is much worse then mine, she had a 45mph 8 hit her car on the side, and she has much more damage to herself and the car...thats enough punishment I think...though who knows....

What type of non-insured laws does CA have?
just looking at these pics make my 8 and myself bleed for you. Such a waste of a perfectlly great car. More importantly you're alright and can walk away from.

WTF is it with the silver cars?.....even the titanium cars seem to be groupies to the silvers when it comes to crunches.

My wife worked in insurance for years and she says that statistically more grey and siver cars have accidents because they are harder to see at certain times of the day, then say for example red like mine. LOL

Matt,

Sorry about your baby. I'm glad you're okay that looks like a nasty accident !!! Our cars have good brakes but not in a situation like that. Glad the airbags and design saved you and that there were witnesses.

I've noticed myself that at the dawn/dusk hours, especially if its overcast, all it takes is for someone in a sky-colored car (grey, silver, baby blue) to not turn their lights on and I sometimes have to do a doubletake to confirm I saw a car there

Old Mazda 323/GLC hatchback. Late 80's/early 90's, I think.

Statistics would disagree with you.

it says nothing about the light conditions, nor about non-serious crashes
