Totalled?

Ok so to make a long story short while going 45-50mph on a road a asian women who couldnt even speak english out of no where slams on her brakes and i nail her. My entire front bumper and immediate frame behind it is cracked. the headlights are both fine but the brackets and everything attached to them are broken to an extent and tha air intake and VFAD are in two pieces. Both fenders appear fine at first but apon closer inspection you can see that were they meet the door panels they are flared out from the impact and when i open the passenger door there is a dent on the inside of the suicide door frame. I guess it sent a pretty big shockwave down the left side of my car. Since the airbag sensor is more on the right side the airbags did not go off however i do believe i have a service engine light. I owe 9k on the car so im not sure what to expect, totalled?

Why is this relevant to the story?

Oh, and your car is totaled.

Because it paints such a vivid picture of the moment. Also, everyone loves the stereotype of Asians and their poor driving skills.

I always love it when people who learned English as first language can't even properly format a paragraph, yet they love to comment on others non English speaking abilities. Hilarious.

Shitty part is, at least in MD, it is automatically your fault unless you can prove otherwise. If she intercepted into your "bubble" of safe driving, then you have a chance otherwise, unfortunatly, your insurance is going to go up and hopefully give you enough dough to pay off your lein.

Im real cool with my insurance and they hook me up so i wont have a problem with that. I had witnesses to the wreck and it was automatically my fault but i have a good shot with my insurance company. I was in a hurry to type the paragraph as i am in a hurry to remove aftermarket parts just in case. The reason i mentioned she couldnt speak english is because right after the wreck (which was on a busy road) i was trying to get her to pull into a near by neighborhood but she didnt understand me and had to call her husband who on arrival threatened me saying there were four kids in the car and she was pregnant.... At this point a witness stepped up and was about to hit the husband and said "well maybe she shouldnt of ******* stopped in the middle of the road."

Im just pissed off at the whole situation. The police officer said she has no doubt that the women stopped in the middle of the road but she told me i was still **** out of luck and she decided to not give me a ticket for the accident, having no front plate, and my tint being too dark. So overall it could of been worse but no one was hurt except my poor baby and there brand new sentra...

Well, for all of you who are bitching about the woman and he is stereotyping... if you can't speak english, you probably can't read it. There are signs on the road.... in which you read... While irrelevant in this case, she shouldn't be driving.

Now, the husband should have been hit, his wife, who can't drive, shouldn't have 4 kids in a car... thats her and her husband's fault not yours.

Sorry that happened man. I had a very similar thing happen 3 weeks into my 8, a douche stopped at a green light in morning rush-hour.

Good Luck man. Fight it with all you can. Hopefully it works out.

Be glad your safe.

I have so many little things with it that i think its going to add up very quickly and i may just be better off having it totaled... As much as it hurts me to say it i see her needing alot of work and time to be back to full potential. And thank you Alex for getting my point, i was not trying to say all Asians suck at driving, i just dont understand how you can even have a license if you cannot understand English.

Normally insurance companies will cover up to 2/3 or 3/4 of the value of the car at that moment when it comes to repairs before they trash it.

If the frame isn't completly screwed it can be put onto a straightner and fixed. The under hood stuff can be replaced or they might just cut you a check to get aftermarket parts instead.

As for the lady driving I can only offer two things:

1. All stereotypes are rooted in fact.
2. There's a little chinese resturant by the Fry's I grocery shop at. Driving through that section of the parking lot is probably more scary than doing 100mph down a side street.

But hey, I still love those Asian women!

So I don't get it. How did you hit her?

You have one the best stopping cars on the planet. The brakes on the 8 are nothing short of amazing. I could understand braking hard and having somebody crash into the back of you, but at 45 mph, you can drag the 8 down to zero in far less than 100 ft.

Were you paying attention? No way that Sentra stops faster than your car.

Ok, We are driving down a road that is 45mpg in the distance there is a light which at the time was red. There was no need to slow yet as it was far away still. The light then switched to green and i was shifting up preparing to continue on when suddenly she SLAMS on her brakes and i get to mine and attempt to get out of the way as quickly as i can but i still ended up sliding the front left (mostly) into her rear.

What year and how many miles on your car? It may or may not be a total based on that...

But if you missed the headlights, that's a pretty good chunk of the cost, so that's good...

I can guarantee that they will totaled your car.

As for Asian women & their driving skills ... yes they suck SOOOOOO bad at it ... ask me how I know ... Especially those in their big *** Lexus or SUV and their sudden stops when no cars/people crossing in front of them, when I see these happen, I will usually pull up next to her car, then I roll my windows down and yell in Chinese (Both Mandarin AND cantonese just to be SURE that she understands) that "Do you know how to ******* drive?"

Some bitches will talk back, then I just keep yelling at them until they ***** out and leave. people behind us? I dont care. I just want to yell the **** out of her.

Its a 2005 with 46k miles and its hard to tell but it looks like the passenger headlight may be cracked underneath, the clips connecting it are bent and it has scratches and what not all over it so i will go out and take a look at it today.

Pity me in Flushing then... I had a (non-asian) lady in a minivan for some reason creeping into my lane....while I was next to her. I was literally half out of my lane thinking "should I speed up? I don't want to honk and have her jerk herself into my car...."

If it's an HID light, that'll be $1000 at least... The estimator might ignore that light if the clips are just damaged.

A 2005 with 46k miles should come around 15-17k in value, to the insurance. You need I think 75% of that in damage to come out to a total. The front bumper and fenders will come out to about $1500 or so. I don't know how to include frame damage, that's usually shop time. If the hood is damaged, that's another $400. VFAD and other stuff inside, no idea. Shop work will be a big chunk of it.

That sucks man.

BTW, I drove on the autobahn back in 2006. Averaged about 110 mph over a two hour span, and I do not speak German. You don't need to speak the local language to understand local road signs, or to drive a car safely in a country you are not native to. You just need half a brain. She may have been a dumbass, but her racial/ethic background had nothing to do with it.

Her being an Asian woman has absolutely nothing to do with the crash.

The reason it is your fault automatically is that it is the responsibility of a driver to maintain a safe distance to the car in front of them. Even if the driver in front of you iwas Mario Andretti, you still wouldn't have stopped in time. The car in front of you could easily strike an obstruction (dump truck pulled out in front of them) or they could brake quickly in order to avoid a perpendicular threat (dog, deer, etc..).

At 45 mph, you're traveling 66 feet per second. Depending on distraction, alertness and age, your reaction time can be as long as 2 seconds. So you need to be at LEAST 120 feet away from someone going 45 in order to stop before they do. You'll probably take this experience as another example of the terrible driving skills of Asian women, but remember that you're the one who caused the accident and use this experience to prevent yourself from having a collision like this at 75 mph.
