Touring Package: Two Words

Touring Package: Two Words
Sun. Roof.
Wanted a better than stock stereo and didn't want to tear up a new car with aftermarket (still not happy with it because it doesn't sounds as good as the one in the living room).
Mirror, take it or leave it, who cares.
Definitely didn't want leather. Animals died for it, too hot in summer, too cold in winter.
Fog lights are useful when you get both coastal and tule varieties.
It was the best of the three packages for us. That's why all the auto companies offer different trim levels. Our minivan is loaded with extras, but we couldn't get the sunroof without leather seats, so it has everything we want but a sunroof. We're glad that Mazda didn't make us lose a sunroof.
I've noticed few people with the Touring package on this forum.

see i'm mad, because i hate sunroofs they tend to lessen structual rigidity, lessen headroom (especially in the 8), and add weight, all of which i'm not happy with, i have a sunroof now and i never use it, i'm kinda mad at mazda for making all but one package have the sunroof, i would've liked to have the bose and the leather, but i need the headroom and the rigidity

I dunno why MazdaUS have arranged the options in packages like these.
UK cars ALL get climate control and Bose 6CD stereo retc.
Only (factory fit)options we have are:
leather seats (£1200)
Sat Nav (£1500)
Sun roof(£?).
Much easier. Now give us 250ps and I'll be happy...

Count me as a happy Touring Package owner. With my other car a Miata whose top is rarely up, I had to have a sunroof or I'd have felt claustrophobic! I also did NOT want the leather interior (as pretty as it is) since I'm not fond of peeling my shorts-clad legs off of it in the summer heat. The Bose stereo in the 8 sounds a whole bunch better than the Bose unit in my Miata LS (go figure), and even though my garage door opener is too ancient to program into the Homelink, I really like the auto-dimming mirror.
I found the Touring package the perfect answer to my needs for the car. YMMV!

sounds like they're trying to compromise, they don't give you the good engine, so they give you nice options
we don't even get climate control, but i really don't mind it's not that hard to micromanage the a/c
i wish that the everything was just options instead of this package BS, would make it easier on us, but they make a more money but giving us stuff we don't want in packages, and mazdaUS, knows that the us market will pay for the packages for just one option they want

Maybe this is a bit off subject...
Personally, I dislike the trim level that Mazda came up with. I placed my SP1 order. However, I was considering changing it to the Tourign Package. After reading various ppl's accounts in this forum , I have becamen to the opinions that:
Bose Sound - Sure, stereo is an extremely subjective thing. But if I'm spending extra money to upgrade a stereo system, it'd better generate enough consensus among the masses that it is definitely better than stock. I haven't seen that consensus at least in this forum.
Homelink - Modern convenience. But, is it worth several hundred $ more?
Moonroof - Personal preference will prevail.
IMO, the Touring Package is not worth it FOR ME. I'm sticking with the SP1. Just my 2c.

RX Guy, I hope you get your car (from Marina Motors?) soon.
I have the same car as the one you ordered, Ti Grey with 1SP, and the sports package
is all you need. Good enough stock stereo, additional headroom without the
moonroof, just the Xenon lights and dynamic stability control if I take a corner too hot.
The fog-lights are just a bonus. The price is right too.
The cloth seats are nice, grippy and comfortable.
One week and 240 miles later, I don't miss any of the fancier options.

Hi ******! Thanks for the good thoughts.
Yeap, I am trying to patiently wait for Marina to call. My built date is Aug wk1. I sure hope Mazda can stay on schedule.
I'm also checking the MazdaUSA inventory to see if there is any update.
Sorry for hijacking the thread. Justy wanted to say hi.
