grab your ankles.......
what exactly are you trying to gain, just re-upping with a warranty? Did you buy your '04 new? You're basically talking about having a car for the duration of highest depreciation, now getting rid of it in order to get into a car about to enter ITS highest period of depreciation. I just bought my '04 in November, low miles - I plan to keep it as a low mileage car and maybe flip it in another year or so for another 2-3 y/o car. You lag the "newest" car but I own cars during a flatter depreciation curve but while they're still under warranty. Win-win!
Sorry for the tangent....like I said, it's going to be a huge hit to you, most likely. Depending on your options, based on what I saw in the private market when I was shopping, dealer would probably give you $14-15K max for your '04, less if you have high miles or any other detracting characteristics.

I payed $20,000 and it has 15,000 miles on it now.
Just wondering how bad they might want to get rid of a new 8.
I don't feel my 8 is too dependable. Engine feels strange at times.

trade value of an 04 is going to be no higher than 15k. Thats optimistic too. So unless you paid off 5k of the car in the last few months, your going to be upside down on the thing.
