what exactly are you trying to gain, just re-upping with a warranty? Did you buy your '04 new? You're basically talking about having a car for the duration of highest depreciation, now getting rid of it in order to get into a car about to enter ITS highest period of depreciation. I just bought my '04 in November, low miles - I plan to keep it as a low mileage car and maybe flip it in another year or so for another 2-3 y/o car. You lag the "newest" car but I own cars during a flatter depreciation curve but while they're still under warranty. Win-win!
Sorry for the tangent....like I said, it's going to be a huge hit to you, most likely. Depending on your options, based on what I saw in the private market when I was shopping, dealer would probably give you $14-15K max for your '04, less if you have high miles or any other detracting characteristics.
