trade in vw rabbit for 04 rx8
Hey everyone,
I was curious on your guys opinion, should I trade my 07 vw rabbit and my 07 ducati monster for a 04 rx-8 with 25,000 for 19,000. I dont get to ride my bike much because of the crappy weather in new england so I figured maybe trade both in and get a nice sports car?
I want to hear all your opinions please
Thanks
Dan

I bought my 04 with 29K miles for $16,300 (in Feb 07). It was the 6 speed Sport model. New engine came around 2500 miles later. Get the CarFax but you can certainly do better on price. There was on 04 or 05 loaded GT 6 speed 18K miles for sale for $17,900 when I bought my car.

$19,000 for a 04 RX-8 sounds on the expensive side. Also I think you would lose your *** if you are getting rid of a 07 Rabbit, and 07 Ducati. I would wait maybe a year so you don't lose so much, and maybe get a 05.

Selling a bike for a car means you were never a serious motorcyclist. Unless it snows every day, a bike isn't only for perfect summer weather.
If you care to beg otherwise, try a bike that deals with weather better (not a Monster) - something with a fairing or in my case heated grips, heated jacket, gloves, rain suit, etc., and with bags to hold it all.
Otherwise, hell yeah you should trade a wabbit for an 8.

Well bic, I'm an ex-Vw guy myself.
First off, I love the simplicity of the VW rabbit. Are you talking about the newest rabbit, or the MKIV golf? Regardless, they are well built cars, that are overly practical. They tend to have (some) electrical / sensor problems depending on the engine type, but overall they are an above average car.
Personally, I find that extremely mind-numbing. After owning 3 GTi's in 4 years (2001 VR6, 2002 1.8T, 1987 16V) I have finally decided to take the leap... and purchased an RX8.
Make sure the RX8 fits your lifestyle in the sense that you don't need to haul (much) stuff, and that you are comfortable with rwd in New England weather. Me being born and raised in CT, and owning a rwd car as my first vehicle, I know what I'm getting into.
Hopefully you have already thought all of this through and are on your way to go pick up your RX8. Great choice!

Winter tires don't stop rust.
And true if your a motorcyclist, you'll get a Gold Wing or something else that can handle everday weather.
And Yes I have ridden in the snow... Not a good thing and poring down rain too.
Other than those two conditions and Tornado weather where you are concerned about lighting strikes, since they have been know to hit a motorcyclyist, you'll be fine.
Look at your finances before you make a change.
It's nice to have an 8 and a motorcycle. Not one or the other.
