Debt management programs ruin your credit score. You should have just called the company and worked something out.

Best way to stay out of debt is to not use credit cards. My wife has forced this way of thinking on me and believe it or not it is great. The only debt I have is autos (though it's short term as I always only finance for 3 years and make double payments when I can) and my house and monthly expenses. Sometimes it sucks to live this way but you learn to save for certain things (like christmas, etc.).

I don't feel like real life lessons like this are forced enough in public education. I have girls that work for me that get $6k back in tax refundseach year and have it blown in a month, then a month later they are crying because they cannot make their car payments. It just blows my mind but this type of attitude towards finance is taught generation to generation.

Ouch man 35k in credit cards? I feel horrible when I have less than 1000$ on my card!

You know what I think you didn't give up your RX8 for the money, you did it because you go bored of your car and wanted to experience the whole VTEC thing and see what all the hype about the SI was.

If I were you I would sell ASAP your civic and buy a 2000 Celica GT-S. It's a high-reving screamer, lightweight and will probably have equal 0-60 times than an SI. It just needs a LSD to be awesome. You'll have the same feeling as in the SI.

And you can find one for 10 000$.

The only thing that really gets my goat is that the main desenters of the 8 on this forum are people who don't even own one. They don't even like it. I don't see the purpose of being here if don't own, are not planning to own, or don't like the car.
Why would people who own RX-8's be the main dissenters? That would be like kicking yourself in the *****. Believe me -- I've tried it.

I think most people are cool around here. Whenever an argument breaks out everyone claims someone else started it. People just have different opinions about what's reasonable commentary and what's "taking it too far".

In the end who cares. 99% of you could beat my car in any kind of race. I still feel the need to balance out the conversation with what I think is important and fair info. What else do I have to do all day?

And look at it this way. Maybe someone who is in debt like the OP thinking about getting an 8 will read this thread and choose more wisely. Then we can all feel good about ourselves for participating.

"Si" is Spanish for "Yes".

Is it just me, or does the Japanese/European Civic Si (Type R/Type S) look better than the North American version?

IMO this pix does make it lookbetter, even the wheels are cool lookin'. I've read it handles well too. I'm sure Honda din't want to bring another 3 door hatch to the states after realizin' how bad the last one sold.

wow, bro. i love cars just as much as the next guy, but maybe that car really wasn't the best call at the moment....much less taking the $4K loss. I'd say taking one for the team with a $3-5K beater for some 4 years or so to attack those loans head-on might have been a slightly better plan.

However, to everyone their own...and don't let anyone stand in the way of yur dreams. I just hope a house loan isnt in the near future or that it's straining any family finances.

Interesting thread, I dont own an rx8 (rsx-s owner), but will be getting an s2000 soon.

I know hyogen personally, it seems like hes more happy with the si.

Like half the people on the forum, I also agree that although the trade wasnt the smartest financial decision, you only live once, and you need to enjoy life. I hope you learned from this experience hyo, and good luck to you in becoming a successful biz/salesman.

Btw, we need to race. RSX-S > Si!!

dude won't admit it but he bought the SI cause he wanted a change and is having more fun in his SI than his old rx-8. No big deal

i wanted a change? no. I LOVED the rx8........hello?

i'm not a rich guy who can just lose $ like that. although impulsive, I thought about the $200/mo I'd save on just GAS. the $50/mo on insurance. $250/mo savings adds up pretty quick.

so you're saying that Si's are more fun cars to drive???

I was just saying that cuz obviously it's a less sporty car than the rx8...

but anways...

What I was trying to get across, is the seemingly strange (at least to me) fact that people who don't like the 8 are on a frickin' 8 FORUM.

I think the people that you say "don't like the 8" really do. Like me, they were probably very interested in one at at least one point in time. Then you stick around because of the people -- not some piece of metal.

This thread is getting beyond off topic.

I tend to agree with most of what Ike says even though we disagree on what suits us best. People like to get all worked up when someone squashes their enthusiasm like everyone in the world has to agree with them.

This forum is about getting information and wasting time at work. I think having people on both sides of the fence is a very good thing for both of those endeavors.
