anyway...
this is what makes me feel better if i get the rare "buyer's remorse" about the 8:
- Taking my car in for warranty work and driving the rental. So far I've had a Ford Focus, Dodge Caliber, and a Chevy Cobalt
- Seeing another 8 on the road...mmmm sexy
And that's it
geez 84 months... i think you could live with a beater until you pay off your debt... but that's just me, and another topic

Bashing a car you don't own...
Man oh man... how many OTs can 1 thread have?
I have to agree re: non RX8 owners trolling an RX8 forum and posting negative comments. Not the Civic SI dude who started this thread of course, since he was just innocently telling his story/saying goodbye/making a comparison (the latter of which some of us were innocently disagreeing with)
But as to those that jump in and bash and don't even own the car... (on this thread or many others I've seen on this site). This makes no sense to me whatsoever. I barely have time for this forum as it is let alone tracking down WRX, S2000, 350Z, Civic SI forums and the rest just to debate over cars I don't even own/have driven once or twice vs my own car. How much time do you people have?!
Here's a Zen tip, go post POSITIVELY in forums for your own car (assuming you love it like most of us love our 8s), you'll live longer. There's nothing wrong with healthy debate and it's inevitable comparisons will arise in forums on both sides but in many cases it seems more like a crusade. Hmm, there's an idea. Let's arrange a war party and attack a Honda forum en masse!
Seriously, that's F'ed up and feels ominously like Xbox 360 owners logging into PS3 forums and bashing for no reason. It's like atheists barging into a church social demanding that everyone accept there is no god lol, actually that I would like to see...
Anyway, honest debate re: a purchase is one thing but to seek out a community and bash the choice you didn't take AFTER the fact?! Why not focus on the choice you did make? I think these people need to get a woman & have sex or play GTA and run over some pedestrians or go for a jog or something. You people need an outlet!
Many posters have said time and again, for the $$, you can't find another RWD 4-seater with that kind of performance/balance let alone the sweetness of rotary/high revving. I guess I should go track down 10 competitors forums and post that...

P.S. Sorry for the novel, I have not learned how to post succinctly and likely never will

I have had some problems with my 8 but NEVER EVER have I considered trading it for a Honda!! I guess you ahve your reasons and I guess they make sense on the surface but I have to enjoy what I drive each day - I drive 75 miles a day to and from work (a lot to some peopel, not to others) and the Honda just would not do it for me. I think I would be trying to find a used 8 if I were you and get back into a fun car.

9291150 is Canadian? Well there is a Georgetown in Ontario but I assumed there were probably 3 more in the States.

Ah well, I deserve it for encouraging you. I came back to the thread after being gone a week and what I responded to is the OT but still interesting topic of non owners signing into a community to bash a product. If you care to r...e...a...d... you'll see I mention seeing the trend in many other threads. This one just spawned the topic.
Someone agree with me quick so I can have more buddies to take after!

I don't own an RX8 or an Si. I am in the market for an RX8 and have test driven one of them....on a very twisty stretch of road. The salesguy knew JUST where to take me with an RX8 test drive..
I currently drive a 2004 Volvo S60R with an ECU uprade, downpipe, and exhaust. It is an AWD, 6 speed, with 4 piston brembos as OEM brakes. I have upgrade sway bars and springs. My car was dynod at about 300 hp to the GROUND and can do the 1/4 mile in 13.5. I have outrun E46 M3s in my Volvo...last time I was at buttonwillow the M3 in front of me had to waive me by b/c I was all over him...
point is..my car is fairly fast. Not as fast as Vettes or souped up EVOs but it's plenty fast. It is piles faster than most RX8s and most Sis.
Why you all gripe about the 0-60 of the RX8 is beyond me. I have a 4 door super sports sedan...but it's getting up in the mileage, and it's off warranty, and i'm afraid it's going to cost me a ton to maintain in the enxt couple years so I'm selling it. I coudl have gotten a BMW 335, or some other turbo 4 door sedan. I wanted something different, something more sporty...and the RX8 intrigued me. It has the makings of a pure sports car, but back seats that *could* fit my kids on those few occasions where I have them in my car vs. in the wife's car. I read a ton about them online before I test drove one. I then test drove it..honestly expecting to NOT like it due to the lack of power and torque.
To my surprise, I finished the test drive thinking it was one of the MOST FUN cars I Have ever driven. And I"ve driven a lot of cars. It honestly reminded me a LOT of my dad's Boxster. he has a 2000 Base model wtih the factory upgraded suspension and 18s. his car is on rails...and it a BLAST to drive. not super super fast..but fast enough. The Rx8 left me with that feeling It's quick....not fast. if you need to go..just rev the stink out of it...it's not goign to win any drag races...but it sounds so cool when you wind it up, and the whole combo of the seating position, feel of the car, tranny, etc...just is sporty. My car, despite ALL the power it has, is no where near as involving or as fun as the bone stock RX8 I test drove.
I ahve already put my car up for sale and am going to get an RX8. It was that much fun.
don't stress about 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. It's over rated. I was one of those "how much hp can I get" guys..and now that I have a fairly fast car...I"mlonging for something that is stock, has a warranty ,that is FUN.
the RX8 was never meant to be a drag racer. I wolnd't buy it for that purpose. It won't win many races light to light...but again..not what it was meant to do.
the Rx8 will get you to/from work.. and if you take it out onto a twisty road it is a ton of fun and can be even more fun than many higher hp "high performance" cars....
enjoy the RX8. IT IS FUN.

I just wanted to second 23109VC... There is a guy at work who has a heavily modded Mustang GT that puts about 450 hp to the road and he is all wrapped up in having the "fastest" car around. I think it might cause him physical pain if someone has a more powerful car than him. Anyway, he was crappin' on my 8 for only having 230 hp.... how I would get smoked by Accords and Altimas, etc... when he suddenly started talking about selling his Mustang and saving to buy something more powerful. I thought it was kinda funny... here's this guy with a car that can pretty much stomp the sh*t out of everything around and he's really not that happy with it. I on the other hand, have what some would call the "also ran" of the sports car world and I am very happy with my purchase. Could it use a little more power? Sure... Maybe I'll do a little FI modding when the warranty runs out... but even if I don't, any given moment of driving this car justifies every dollar I have put in it (or will put in it) as some of the most enjoyable dollars I have ever spent.
Also, to answer an earlier question, I frequently greet my friends at work with "Word to ya *****!" which seems to strike everyone as hilarious coming from a short, balding, middle-aged white guy with glasses.

otherside,
lol
BillyPilgrim/23109VC,
Agreed, it's damn hard (some might say impossible) to find a car in our market segment with the pure fun factor of the 8. The handling/balance, RWD, high revving, rotary smoothness with unique good looks, relative practicality and a decent amount of speed/acceleration. As people keep saying, a true "sports car" is not measured on 1 factor alone. The 8's got heart and soul. It's got a huge number of check marks on that sports car list in a price range that almost excludes it from even competing... and WITH a functional backseat. It amazes me the negative comments I see on YouTube and forums (which are admittedly less than the praise, but still...) compared to the reaction I get from people in the real world (which is always outstanding). I swear in the summer with the sun out my Black Cherry 8 almost needs to sign autographs.
I've read so many comments about 8 owners making the decision to buy after finishing their 1st test drive with a big smile on their face. Brings back memories. I had test driven about 15 other cars before the 8. My dealer knew just how to play me. Sent me to the curviest bit of back roads nearby including a 360 degree highway on-ramp with explicit instructions not to shift until I heard the buzzer... 10 min later aaaaaaaaaaaaaand sold!

P.S. I'm still waiting for my thank-you gift basket from Shell or Esso
