Do the back seats on the 8 fold down? would a 30" x 30" x 15" guitar cabinet fit in the trunk?
I'm thinking about buying an Rx-8 but i need usable trunk space to carry my music equpment!

thanks!

No fold down. I'm sure it's for structural reasons.

the problem isnt the size of the trunk so much as the opening to the trunk. to me, it is a bit too narrow, and in my experiences with amps etc, it might be a tough squeeze. i could be wrong though.

I dont think it's going to fit. I do know however that a line 6 spyder 2 will fit like a friggin glove! It's even got indentions in the trunk that allow the corners to sit snug and not move at all under any driving conditions. So just get a line6 and you'll be straight :-)

Your guitar or Bass will have to ride shotgun due to the center console.

The opening is 43" long X 12" at its widest. It gets a little tighter over the tail lights. The trunk does have a removable pass thru panel and will hold a lot of soft luggage or grocery bags. I also carry 2 golf bags easily. You amp ain't gonna fit in the trunk but there is a back seat.

If you've got the amp in the indent in the trunk that's true. The RX-8 trunk holds my guitar case quite nicely (a Godin LGX3 - like a Les Paul with single coils). I have the optional spare tire kit and with it the guitar fits in vertically. If I didn't have the spare tire (or I took it out) I might be able to fit in a cab of the size you mention and then fit the guitar case in afterwards. When I go to jam I have just put my amp in the passenger compartment. The acoustic won't fit in the trunk unless I take out the spare tire so that too I carry in the passenger compartment.

When I was shopping for a car I took my guitar case along with me and tested it in any of the cars I was considering. Most dealers won't mind if you want to see how stuff fits in the car. I didn't come across any who wouldn't let me try and fit my gear into the car. They want to sell you the car and will let you do anything reasonable.

hehe I actually do have a line6 but it's a flextone head with a 4x12 cabinet.

Thanks everyone for the info, bringing a guitar case is not a bad idea but bringing a 70lb cabinet might be a bit too much hehe. Oh well I still want the car!

If you're willing to buy the car even if the cab won't fit then that's ok. If the cab not fitting will be a "deal breaker" then bring it and try it out.
