Tryin to get an 8 but they dont like my price.
I found an rx8 close by for sale. It is an 06 shinka MT with only 30 miles and that should say everything about specs. their sticker price is $33000 and msrp was $27000. i want $27000 for it but they want $30000. Also, the plastic on the passenger mirror is slightly faded and the interior is a little dirty.
All the mazda dealerships are being closed in my are and this and an 07 silver AT base.
what do you think would be a good price to offer?
BTW i test drove it and had my doubts about the steering and power, but afterward i was amazed at the power of the engine and the cornering it has. imo, the handling there is better than the 92 miata i drive.
also, what is the light with the exclamation to the right of the gas meter (not the needs gas light)?

the car being an 06, they should be able to still make profits if they give it to you for 27000. but then again, if they let you leave the lot with that offer, it's unlikely that they're going to budge.

I just picked up my 06 a couple of months ago for 5k under dealer invoice. They should give it to you for at least that much under their invoice (not msrp) and maybe less given the additional time and that it's an 06.

I'd try to get them down to 29,000 even...
As for the light I believe the one you might be refering to is the tire pressure light...But that's not by the Gas meter at all so I don't think that would be it

they got you by the short hairs.... they know you want the car and they also know that you really cant go anwhere else and get one locally. my advice is be patient and wait... see how bad they really want to sell it

they DO want to get rid of it since they probably dont wanna pay for transport to another dealership. i think they will do 29000 but that doesnt include the rebate since it's a nissan dealer and not mazda.

There is a new Phantom blue and a whitewater pearl still around here that are '06s. Both were close to $33,000 msrp and both are listed for around 26,500, and I think this does include whatever rebates and Mazda financing that are available. I don't think there is any reason you can't have it for $27,000. I'd hold out if I were you.

i'm thinkin the same thing.
plus this is not the style i want. i dont really want the shinka. what i do want is black or red exterior with black/red interior. they need a really good price to intice me to buy it considering that i dont have a choice of colors around here.
is it standard for shinkas to have cloth seats instead of the leather on the GTs?

as far as I recall a shinka should have leather seats....something smells here.

Not that I'm an expert shopper, but that Shinka sounds fishy.
Shinkas have leather/alcantara seats. Alcantara is some kind of artificial suede. If that car has cloth seats, something is not right.
How did the mirror fade and the interior get dirty if it only has 30 miles on it?
If it's a Nissan dealer, not a Mazda dealer, how can they be selling a Mazda as a new car? Either they're a dealer and can give you the Mazda incentive, or they're not, and it's a two year old used car.
Be careful.

never heard of alcantra but that may be what the seats are. i do know they are not leather which is what i thought was standard.
i have no idea about the interior and dirty. right above my head was some smudge but it can be cleaned easily. about the mirror fade, it was white as if it had faded and i tried to rub it off just in case it was something else and it didnt come off so i dont know.
the were both owned by the same person and the mazda dealer shut down as all in the area of 80 miles have and the some mazdas went over to that lot. i dont know if its teporary or what but thats what happened.
i think im probably gonna wait for one on ebay in georgia or north florida or find a new one in atlanta or tallahassee, FL or birmingham, AL.

i dont HAVE to have it.
i found this http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=68
this is almost EXACTLY what i was looking for. i need to find if it has a sunroof.
and on that shinka, when i revved to ~6000 rpm i smeled a bad smell. dont know if thats normal for a new rotary engine but i never smelled that in a new piston engine. maybe i revved too high but i think it shouldnt have smeled like it did.

Very few people buy these cars (new or used) so the advantage is all yours. Find the car(s) you want, offer them what you think is fair, and if they don't bite another dealer will. Virtually guaranteed.
Seeing the used 8s listed for sale gets me to thinking that all the dumbasses out there who are shopping for a true sportscar experience in this price range and forego the 8 for whatever reason are truly retarded and deserve to ride around in their 2 door "trucks".

just curious but is that directed toward me?

Alcantara is like suede, it doesn't look like or resemble leather, but it is very nice. Personally, I like leather.
I bought my 2007 GT MT 2 months ago. The sticker was $32.3 and I got it for $27.9. That was before the $2500 cash back Mazda is (was?) offering. I know the price per region varies, but $33 sounds high. If you are really passionate about a Shinka, then do what Razz says and get it.
If you're not crazy about the Shinka but really want an RX8 then offer then what you're willing to pay or wait it out.

Not unless you choose a Mustang or 350Z over the 8.

It'd be worth your while to extend your search a lot further. Get into some metropolitan areas where there are many more (relatively speaking) Mazda dealers and the competition drives the price closer to where you'd like it.

and the mustangs have a nice looking body and that's where the car stops for me.
350Zs look cool, have some power, and my parents like them mor but i still like the 8 in many more ways. since driving a miata i probably wouldnt buy any other sports car (i consider the 8 a sports car).
i love the 4 seats and 2+2 doors on the 8 and the room it has compared to most if not all 2 seaters.
the only car i have considered since i first found the 8 is the 8. and the rotary engine intrigues me.

Hey now, the 350Z is a good sports car. The Mustang does handle like the wheels are made of cheese compared to the other two but that is exactly the point: the 350Z handles well compared to the 8. Now if you don't mind feeling like you've been punched in the *** repeatedly then the 350Z is for you. The handling and power are great.
Of course I think the RX-8 is better but that should be clear by which one I own.

I didn't even end up paying $27 for my new 07. Something is fishy about this car though being sold as new at a Nissan dealer. I would start pestering them along the lines of how they got the car. Was it purchased at an auction after a flood or hurricane?

There's definitely something fishy here...
RX8s redline at 9k, so you should be hitting 6k with just about every shift. The fact that it "smelled funny" at 6k would make me run, not walk!
$27k for an 06, regardless of trim, is way overpriced. I got my 05 GT MT in April of 06 for $25k and pocket change, out the door. Go find some on-line prices, factor in $4-500 for shipping, and wave some web print-outs in their faces.
Leather is standard on the GTs, not the base models. The leather on the shinka does look kinda funky - suede like. I'm not a fan of the color since it would appear to get dirty very easily.
CarFax is your friend - run the VIN and see what comes up.
