this is almost EXACTLY what i was looking for. i need to find if it has a sunroof.

and on that shinka, when i revved to ~6000 rpm i smeled a bad smell. dont know if thats normal for a new rotary engine but i never smelled that in a new piston engine. maybe i revved too high but i think it shouldnt have smeled like it did.
it does

if it has leather it has a sunroof

oh, and the smell is normal, it'll go away

350Zs look cool, have some power, and my parents like them mor but i still like the 8 in many more ways. since driving a miata i probably wouldnt buy any other sports car (i consider the 8 a sports car).

i love the 4 seats and 2+2 doors on the 8 and the room it has compared to most if not all 2 seaters.

the only car i have considered since i first found the 8 is the 8. and the rotary engine intrigues me.
That's exactly how I felt. I've wanted an RX-7 since the FC's and when I saw the RX8 for the first time at the Mazda Rev-it-Up event in 03, I knew I HAD to have one. Getting a car you're really passionate about is an awesome feeling and the only way to go.

I only wanted Velocity Red with black/red interior GT MT. No other color/package was an option (I was briefly considering the Winning Blue). My dealer had to order it from another state and have it transferred down. At $27.9 (2007) I got a pretty good price- exactly invoice- but I feel I paid a $1400 premium because the dealer knew I only wanted one style and it was difficult to get.

TOTALLY worth it. Everyday I see it or drive it I know there is not a single thing I would change on the entire car. Had I gone with anything other than exactly that model I wouldn't have been as happy- I'm really glad I waited.

As far as the Z, there is one thing every has forgotten to mention. The FISHER-PRICE interior. That interior so bad I don't see how anyone can live with it day in and day out. Plus it has those FUGLY door handles. Great car if your blind and, like mentioned, enjoy a daily *** pounding.

Mustang. Uhhh. Yeah. No.

thanks for the advice. im most likely gonna pass this one up. i do think is overpriced but they didnt seem to want to come off the price as much as i would like. if i had a hard time getting them to $30000 think of how hard it will be to talk them to $27000 or $25000. The shinka isnt for me so i'll keep up the search for the right 8 for me.

You revved a new car to 6k?
The smell is likely coming from the new cat. It's normal.

It's overpriced BTW. Walk away.

GOOD CALL. Get exactly what you want and pay exactly what you feel it's worth.

I understand not wanting to drive a few hours, but take a buddy (not a chic, they'll talk your ear off) and make it a weekend thing. It'll be an experience you'll never forget! Roadtrip to buy your new 8! As Al Pacino says: HOOWAH!

I wouldn't pay $30K for a 2006 RX-8 shinka with cloth seats! I'd get a GT 2006 for $25-$27k with every option and let them keep the name Shinka. It doesn't sound like its really a Shinka version anyway with cloth seats. I was quoted $30k for a 2007 GT RX-8 loaded, nav even. This forum informed me that many bought the same vehicle for $27-$29k I offered $30k they wouldn't budge so no DEAL.

Sometimes its Deal or no Deal, if they don't budge its No Deal, their lost.

By the way went to same lot 1 month later and talked to a different salesman, the vehicle I was looking at sold for $29.500.

$30k for Shinka Imposter is a sham, get a GT 06 for much less, somewhere else surf the internet or Automax delivered free.

If you just want to give away a couple of thousand dollars away, I have a Paypal account already setup, thanks;-). Sound just as stupid as $33K cloth seat SHINKA.

Don't do it. Screw them.

It's a 2006, and this is now 2007. The minute your name hits the dotted line, you loose twice as much depreciation as normal! In 2 months, the '08's will be here and it will be 2 yrs old. Just for kicks ask your insurance company what the payoff would be if you were to total it next week?

Let them sit on it.

i turned em down anyway. and it was some suede like stuff not cloth. i can wait for 2 months to see the 08' model but i would still have to drive more than an hour away to get one. all our local dealers closed.

One could always make the "it's X# of months or model years old". Buying an '07 now is practically getting a year old car (with the '08s less than 2 months away), so unless the cash back is significant on the leftover car vs. the small discount on the '08 I'd personally take the truly brand new car in Sept/Oct. and never look back.

i never thought that it will actually be a 2 year old car soon. so that would make the shinka a very bad deal. good thing im gonna wait. they called me back today but didnt say anything about reducing the price any more. i'll wait for the 08s and either get an 07 at a reduced price or an 08.

I have a hard time believing the msrp for a Shinka was $27,000. My msrp for my '06 MT GT minus appearance pack and nav was $30,325. This is what they showed me at the time, and it's the same figure that came up on my DMV registration. The Shinka should be whatever the GT has, plus suspension change, leather accents, etc.

What you can actually get for it depends on a lot of things. I bought mine a month after the '06 models came out, and the dealership didn't have any '05 of the lot, so there wasn't a lot of wiggle room to negotiate.
