TSB's after expired warranty
Ok I am almost new in the forum and Before I posted anything I tried to read a lot before hand and always searched and this is going to be my first serious inquiry that I need help with and I couldn't find anything by using the amazing search feature. forgive me if there is a post for this but I really couldn't find any.
Anyways here's my question:
Do the technical service bulletins(TSB) cowered by mazda even though bumper-bumper warranty expires? or do I need to have the warranty to get a certain TSB fixed for free?
I will be glad if someone can enlighten me with this.
Thank You

A TSB is not covered without a warranty.... A TSB does not even mean that your car even has that particular problem.
A Technical Service Bulletin is mearly a way of a manufacturer reporting to technicians commonly found problems and a way to fix them.

I took my 83,000 mile RX8 into North Park Mazda San Antonio twice, after the engine warranty was extended. Each time, I told them that I thought there was a loss of power (even though I don't think there is one, I just know those are the magic words they need to hear)
They said MSP16 is under the Emissions warranty, which runs out at 80,000 (60,000?) miles, and denied me.
Which I think sucks........if the engine was perfect it would not need a flash. It should not matter what the mileage is, if Mazda felt the need to improve the engine or codes then it was never optimal to begin with.

Did anyone get a recall notice for MSP16? I didn't, but I did get notices for the two that were definitely recalls (4206f and MSP13). Postcards from my dealer, not letters from Mazda.
The TSB starts off by saying all vehicles in the VIN range must be inspected and repaired. But it then says that the dealer has to perform an "eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry" before doing the repair.

What I love is when it's an emissions based issue and they won't repair it for free but it could lead to the car not passing emissions in some states. Or worse those that end up with a blown motor out of warranty and the bank or dealership regains possession of a defunct car. I actually think there was something like that on the forum a little while back, tho mazda took the car back willingly in that case. But ya with how computerized new cars are, should they charge for firmware updates that could end up leaving the car with a blown motor or worse?
I remember VW having an issue one time where the battery could drain and leave you locked in the car till someone jimmied the door open or smashed a window. BMW's if their computers freak out the car becomes completely mobilized and the door handles and all stop working so the car has to be towed to a BMW dealer to be "reset"
