Tuned Electric supercharger (not an ad) Im testing it on my 8

Once again this is not an add but my local mechanic shop is letting me test for free a TUNED ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER..what makes it different is that its located in the airbox where the intake goes and has a cold air extension.. Unlike the ones in the add .. the fan opens and speeds up according to how open the throttle is.. When they used it on a 350z it did gain some horses it added about 6hp. Im just trying it out to see it it would work on my 8 ..I get to use it for 3 days ..I cant purchase it cuz its a prototype.. I will keep those who are interested posted and I will let you know if it works!!!

Other than the " BUTT DYNO " how will we know if this works? What baseline tests were performed before this device was installed? If your feelings will be the only thing to go by I would advise you to delete your post since you will get flamed. We are a hard crowd to convince.

6 hp... Supercharger... Hmmm. Not too interested, personally. Let us know, though. Pics, too.

I dont know what your mechanical or tuning experiance is, but in order to actually test this thing you would need to dyno your 8 stock, then install it same day, same place and dyno again after the install under the same circumstances/temperature. That is the only way you will get exact results. If you dont plan on doing that then the next 3 days will be a waste of time. It does sound like a gimmick though.

how much hp gain do you need to actually feel it? Something like 10 hp, right?

You'll probably get better results by just taking a huge dump before you drive your car vs this "electronic supercharger"

Isn't that a similar gain to what you might get with most aftermarket intakes anyway (in some cases you would get more)?

Ha ha ha ha... FOUND IT It makes a whopping 1psi of boost, at a price of $300, or 1.7 psi for $600, which is just two of the 1 psi fans installed back to back.

HAHA, I think that your local body shop is going to screw up your engine. That would suck. You are testing out a product that only gives 6 hp and your engine breaks because the "local shop" broke it while installing it.

Sorry don't think its gonna yield much power let alone choking the engine at high rpm but that's just my opinion.

Arrow No need.....

There is zero need to even put it on the car- just put a (sensitive) pressure gauge on the "blow" hole, then power it up.

I absotively posolutely GUARANTEE it's not putting out anywhere near 1p.s.i.

You would need an electric motor in the multi-kilowatt range to come even close.

From the looks of the thing it is going to screw up the air flow more than it will help. 1.7 psi? Hell strap a squirrel to your intake and tell it to exhale.

Just buy a regular intake and it will work better than that thing.

Not by itself it doesn't, but he's also going to install the Turbonator, a throttle body spacer, a MAF resistor and fuel line magnetizer (did I miss any?). Add all those up and he'll have.... let's see... carry the one and the result is a large hole in his wallet.

Maybe we need a "Major Horsepower Scams" section.
