Turbo Question

Do those of you who have turbo setups on your 8's have your cars paid off?

lol if you didnt then you would have some serious priority issues and should probably take a financial planning class.

^^lol...yeah definitly. The reason for my question is, I sold my bike and I always see all of these sexy turbo setups on here and I would love having a turbo kit installed, but then my good sense kicks in. Not only would it be stupid of me for financial priority reasons, but if I blew my engine, then there goes my warranty and I have no cash for a new one.

well I did not have mine paid off and I had a turbo kit, no financial lessons to be had here but in PR the 8 is a $40k car and I dont think I would wait for something I want. Now I will no longer have it since I totalled it but yeah there is no reason to not do what you want to your car.

If you wanted a turbo just save up any extra money you can...like dont' go out to eat as much..drink as much beer etc etc and put that toward the turbo fund...then finally you will have enought for a kit or a good chunk of it!

as for the warranty thing that is something u just have to decide if you want to deal with!

then I say if you want it make sure all your other finances are available and be sure u know what ur doing when it comes to a turbo car and go for it! I know I would if I had the money but I'm lookin for a truck to buy for my DD instead of my 8

It's all a matter of priorities .

If you have no aspirations to own a house or have children or many other of lifes niceities then you have no reason not to blow all your hardearned on your car .

jus got a 5spd 92 accord with a h22a to "replace" her. Cant wait til I own another rx8 straight up in a couple years here..(and then i will be pushing 300+whp). **** payments. I learned my lesson..ill buy cars straight up from now on.

Or you can wait a few years and do it properly. There will always be RX-8s to buy, and they'll only get cheaper.

Having a boosted 8 and a house, wife, and kids don't have to be mutually exclusive.

very true .
But for someone starting out in life it is probably not the smartest thing to do , uless of course you make that much money that you can have all that and still have some leftover ....

if you are SERIOUSLY considering a turbo somettime in the near somewhat future i'd save the 300 or so buck on the intake and just put it towards the loan because most likely will not be able to use the intake with ur turbo unless u really customize it and also depends on the intake u are lookin to get

just my 2 cents

Well, I have dibs on buying a used MS intake from a member for $200 and I thought it could be used with the turbo setup anyway.
