Twin turbo RX-8 Sighting

I know this sounds crazy, and unbelieve, but yesterday I met a guy with a twin turbo set up down here in Miami. It was a pearl White RX-8. He said he custom made it himself. He wouldn't tell me how much the cost was, but said It wasn't that much since he did it himself. I'm also unsure of what EMS he was using. He was a little vaige when answering my questions, but he also said he had the setup for a couple of months.

Do you guys think the Renesis can take this much power?

Doesn't mean there was a lot of power going through it just cause it was twins. I mean not any more than a normal turbo setup.

Did he let you look at it, because I wouldn't believe it. Not even for a second, but that's just me.

he was a little vague as he was lying to you or he was an idiot

there is no need for a Twin turbo on this car or most cars for that matter with the current turbo technology

extra weight in the turbo/tubing...double the issues...really a PITA

you should have laughed at him

EMS is still not fully ironed out either...lets get this guy on the forum to see what is up

Of course I looked at, I wouldn't have posted this up! Aluminum tubing everywhere! I'm sorry, I forgot to mention he said he was boosting 15psi. That's why I had asked if it can handle the power.

Well, on a car with as high a redline as the RX-8, you could put a pretty decent TT system, if you knew what you were doing. Were they sequential? If so I wonder how he controlled the crossover between the smaller turbo and the larger.

But yeah, you don't need two turbos to make more power. Usually people have two to make the spool time faster, or if they have a show car...

Sequential? What is that? I've heard it but never looked into it. Is it that both are producing boost at the same time> I only know about ST

Single turbo's have been the way to go with RX-7's. I can't see why anyone would want to go with a twin set-up.

In a sequential set up, you'd be using your small turbo for a certain load/low rpm range, and your larger turbo for a higher load/high rpm range. So they wouldn't be both boosting at the same time. This is how the FD was set up. Don't you watch Initial D man
Where exactly were the turbos located? In the GReddy turbo area, or PTP/SFR turbo area (if that makes sense).

My wife works at Dolphin Mall. We should start a full upscale search to find this guy. You gather up the soldiers. My guys and I will set a perimeter around Miami =)

both were visible on top/front engine bay. The battery was in the trunk. They were about the size as my greddy turbo.

15 psi is not too much as long as you had proper tuning and fuel.

like the 3 turbo Supra. crazy piping setup. made the same power as a lot of single turbos, but had a much fatter TQ curve and started making boost at around 2200rpm.

why would you want to go single turbo, unless your into drag racing......

with the stock twins you can run them non-sequential, still get a quick spool, and make ~380hp with a few other mods and a good tune, thats all you need...in that car.....plus a good suspension/wheel/tire package.
