Talking Two RX8's teased me today...

Just thought I'd share...

I came out of work today and I saw a yellow 8. The car once again impressed me because I saw how normal and cheap some cars look compared to it (most cars).

I also saw a 04 Mustang and man did the 8 make it look so dang ugly. I was thinking the other day..."Why don't you just get a Mustang GT and save money"

Note: Because some things are happening at my job and I'm not sure what will happen.

But the 8 came along just in time.

Then before I got home another black 8 (my fav color on the car along with silver & dark gray) passed by and I swear I heard it whisper to me..."Don't do it, you will love me..." coming from it's exhaust.

I'm currently saving but I sure hope my plans don't go up in smoke because of the stuff happening at my job.

Ahh, who cares...GOD WILL PROVIDE...and what ever it turns out to be (I hope the RX8) I'll be happy with.

You should get a smoking deal at around October of each year and now for the 2004 versions. Sorry you job situation is getting you on edge. It will all work out and you will be another happy RX-8 owner in due time.

listen to yourself

Stand back, find objectivity, read what you wrote again. "Why not just get a Mustang and save money?" comes from your intellect as it's trying to be reasonable in trying circumstances. Your heart is in a whole other dimension(or maybe it's the id? forgot most of what I learned about Freud and those little voices).

You want an 8. You know you do. I can hear you pine all the way here.
Life is short. Get what you want: it ain't a Mustang!

He will provide

You are on the right track with the 8, I sold Fords for about 3 days the I called it quits. I was not impress with the new 05 Mustang at all. The interior looks cheap and Im sure the handling is no where near the 8 performance.

In 1980, after graduating and becoming a pharmacist, I KNEW I wanted the Gold Special Edition RX-8. Went to 2 dealers in Dallas (one was Freeman, can't remember the other) and they treated me like a kid who had never bought a new car before (I was) but I knew my cars. Walked out of both dealers and wound up buying a 10th Anniversary 280ZX. Loved my Z but it was not the Mazda I wanted. I pined for 24 years for an RX-8.Had the RX-8 screensaver on my computer a year before its release. Now I finally have my very own RX-8 and it is a continual source of smiles. The moral....RX8 Wannahave, hold on to your dream and don't compromise or sacrifice. The RX-8 will be yours soon enough and you will be pleased.

RXwannahave,

Now is a great timne to look for an 04. I just bought a black 6mt, sunroof, kit all around, spoiler, bose system, with cloth seats, for 24K.

Mazda is running specials to get 04's off the lots and gave up the car for cost. Mazda then gave both the dealer and me a $1500 dollar rebate, bring my price down to 24,8xx and the dealer made 1500 off the deal.

Shop around and you might be suprised.

Now I have that RX8 smile on my face and my wallet is smiling too... :D

Sorry If I don’t understand what pine is, but I hear ya. I know I want the 8 but you can’t always go after wants…trust me, been down that road…it’s fun for only a season…

With that said, I think I’ll be able to get an 8 still! WITH GOD's HELP!!!

I was not impress with the new 05 Mustang at all.
Well, I was talking about the 04…but I don’t really like the 05 either.

I bet if you saw any of our 8's they'll be whispering to you ... "Join us. Best. Decision. Ever."
Why does that last sentence…sound like the comic guy from the Simpson’s…LOL

The moral....RX8 Wannahave, hold on to your dream and don't compromise or sacrifice. The RX-8 will be yours soon enough and you will be pleased.
Thank you all for the encouragement! I just hope I don't have to become a male dancer to pay the payments just in case something happens at work...LOL...

NO WAY!!! I went to carsdirect (without rebate offer) it came out to $28,500…your price is great and is exactly what I would want cept the body kit…that’s a plus, but not a half too!

I’m looking into it now…just called a dealer, let’s see what they say…

I recently insured my 8 through a local ins. comp. They didn't know how to write up a policy on the car/rotery. They wrote it up as a 4 door sedan, four passenger, and a 1.3 liter 2 cyl. Full coverage cheaper then my wife's van... :D

OK, I spoke to the dealer and they said they only had one 04 left...

They said they had a green (sorry green guys/gals, but I don't like the 8 in green) 6sp with the sport package and they could give it to me for $25,800 (w/o ttt)

I'm not impressed with the price. I mentiened the $1500 rebate and he acted like he did not know anything about it...I reminded him. I also told him I work for a company that is in partnership with FORD so I could get the S Plan price but that only changed the price to $25500...I think the kid don't know what he is doing.

I think the deal is not that bad really, but I was looking to be out the door for $24,000 flat. I thought it would be possible with the rebate & S Plan priceing but he did not lower it below $25,500.

I really think the guy does not know what he is talking about and is trying to take me but at that price a NEW 8 is out of the question.

On the plus side he said I could take an 8 for a 24hour test drive which I plan on doing this Friday...to get a feel for the young girl... :D :D

Has anyone done this? If so...how does it work? Do I have to pay something...??? Let me know...

Also, anyone who recently bought an 8 please let me know the (FINAL PRICE with TTT) price, options, and what state you got it at. I want to see what looks like a good deal and what looks like they are trying to take me.

THANKS AGAIN for your help!

Are you anywhere in the North East US. I bought my car in Albany NY. I had a choice of 2 blacks, 1 yellow, or a red. One black and the yellow had the full body kit/spoiler, and I took the black.

Don't know anything about a 24hr test drive...i dont think they do that around here, but most dealers will give you more off if they think you're going to buy it, and you can always get up and leave. When my girlfriend bought her celica she said she didn't want to pay anything more than 15k for it and they said they wouldn't accept less than 15,900. we left. a few days later they called her back and gave it to her for 15.

Also, if the dealer doesn't have the one you want...go to another dealer. The first place I went to said they didn't have it in red, but there was another dealer they could trade with to get a red one, but I wouldn't get as good of a deal, so, I looked online and found it, went to the other dealer myself, and got a better deal than the first was going to give me.

Dealers are a lot more flexible than they pretend to be...they want to say this is the best you're going to get, so take it. besides, you can always lie and say that another place offered you a better price

Also consider that each dealership has a profit they do need to make, however that profit may be categorized to stay in business and pay the bills. That may be different if there is a threadbare dealer with little dealership overhead (and maybe service) who can only barely sell you the car OR compared to another that has a new physical plant, maybe a MazdaSpeed franchise, more techs, newer service equipment, and more extensive parts (OEM & 3rd party) offerings at your disposal.

So would you buy/get serviced at the low cost dealer like above - or the high service/support dealer who is ready and willing to help you afterwards? Don't you want to support those that support you? Thats a question everyone has to answer though with their own money- words are just debating. It's what you do that counts.

As long as it's not money for nothing - equivelent dealerships should have market driven comparable prices - but certainly there are reasons to want to choose (give money to support) a higher initial price dealer.

'04 deals

You can definately get some good deals on '04's. But you can only get what they have in stock. Having only 1 '04 probably isn't a big deal, so they aren't going to discount it much. But here in SoCal there are some dealerships with a lot. Cerritos has 40 (last weekend) left and they are offering all of them at $5300 off sticker price. Not much negotiating beyond that, but it is a good deal. I just got mine for $5100 off sticker at another delaership because Cerritos didn't have the style I wanted so I went somewhere else. You just have to find someone with a bunch of them left.

Rodrigo67, there's nothing more beautiful than a clean black RX-8, except one that doesn't have a big white license plate hanging from the front. Get that thing off there!

You're reminding me of a VW Bug commercial where the guy has a VW bug stuck on his head whereever he goes and it keeps getting bigger as if something was "stuck" on his mind, and of course at the end he buys the VW Bug.

Anyway, I'm not making fun, I'm just saying I'm reminded of it. Just hang in there, like you said, God provides.

I know exactly what you mean...it sure does take away from the natural effect of the car. Living here in the people's republic of massachusetts, there's not much choice. With the state low on cash, the police are just looking for excuse's to pull you over and start collecting. Not sure what no front License plate ticket goes for but speeding tickets start at $100 and go up $10 for every mile over so you get the idea...

Thats weird... Mine just whispered "aren't you glad you did it, you LOVE me!"

I think you have already made up your mind. And you are trying to undo it.

For what its worth, I did the same thing. When I first saw the RX-8 in Automobile magazine, my mind was set on it. But in those months before I actually got one, my mind flip-flopped between three other cars (G35, GTO, 350Z) a bunch.

The heart knows what it wants. Its the head that provides all the usless chatter.
I made the right decision and from what I'm hearing from you, you have too. Stay strong and you will not be sorry. Buy the better "Ford". Good luck to ya.

Thanks for the encouragement also...

I flop with the GTO, G35, and RX8. Each has good and bad points. The RX8 with the rear doors really caught my eye and with it's looks also. The G35 was my early love affair but I hear the back seats lack headroom. The GTO has a nice interior, lovely V8, but so so looks and no rear doors like the 8.

I think it's really down to the RX8 & GTO right now. The RX8 has a comfortable lead and only a great price would probably bring me into a GTO (cause it's fat and does not cut corners as nice as the 8).

What leads me to the GTO is the feeling that the way gas prices are going we might see in the future another HP death or big engine death. So, I should taste an American V8 before they are gone. My problem with the car is its so so looks, fat weight, and poor handling...everything else...is good.

The RX8 really came along at a perfect time for me. I was looking for a 2+2, RWD, fast and great handling car. The RX8 fits that perfectly. It’s fast enough, it’s fuel economy is good enough for a sports car, it’s relatively comfortable in the rear, and it looks great!

The stuff that bothers me is the sometimes scary 12-13mpg people report, some of the issues the car has, and my worry that the rotary will not last me my desired 7-10 years.

With that said, every time I see an 8 I get a warm and happy inside…LOL. The car is truly perfectly made for me and my worries I think are a little overdone. So, the RX8 is most likely will be (GOD WILLING) the car I get.

Update! Since I might be able to use the Mazda S Plan and I had some extra money come in recently, I think I might be one of you guys/gals by this December instead of April 2005 as I originally thought. The RX8 would be a heck of a CHRISTmas gift…. :D :D

Thank you all for the encouragement!

yeah, in regards to the GTO. Was impressed with the power, but little else. I thought the quality of the interior couldnt compare to the 8 or the G35 for that matter. Plus, I travel alot and AVIS/Hertz use Grand Ams extensively. I think the GTO looks like a Grand Am and I didnt want to buy a "rental car".

The G35 rear seat is nice on the sedan (not a sportscar) but really unsuable on the coupe. Im short and I was still rubbing my head on the roof when I sat in one.

The 350 has great power, too, but IMHO, little else. They looked great when they first came out, but now the design is starting to grow old on me. I have never felt that with any RX's I like all the older body styles to this day. To me thats a real testimony to design, longevity.

So far, the 8 looks more beautiful to me every day.

Yeah, the GTO looks old and it just came out. I actually saw the Holden…”name here, I forgot what’s it’s called” from down under and it looked better than the GTO. What happened is that they Pontiac-it and made it look like and inflated Chevy Cavalier. The looks, behind the poor handling, is the biggest problem with the car.

The GTO should have had vertical lights something like the G35 lights but more vertical. It should not weigh 3600 pounds and handle at least near RX8 levels. Oh well…maybe the next one will be better????
