UK Mazda dealer phone call!

Well, that was a shockl!.. My dealer phoned me!

Obviously they have just recieved some information...

He gave me a quick rundown on the UK spec...

Basiclly there will be 2 models, 189HP and 240HP... there won't be much difference other than the engine... The higher power version will have Xenon's, 6 speed gearbox and Alloy pedals.... but will be otherwise identical ... the lower model gets the wheels, brakes etc as standard.

The only options will be Leather, Sunroof and Navigation.

There will initially be limited colours available... a Titanium, Silver and a new Mica red... I don't think he said any others, but I was scribbling frantically so I could have done.

Supply will also be limited, but he said that the top model is rumoured to come in under 25K... I'm impressed...

wow.. that's nice how the only main difference in models will be the engine... and its because of the transmission isn't it? the 189hp will most likely be the auto, from what i gather from reading around the forums...

25k UK right? which would make it like just over 50k canadian for the top model?!?! ahhh... not boding well over here....

No, there is no Auto in the UK, at least he didn't mention one.. the 189 has the 5 speed.

As for the price, things tend to be more expensive here in real exchange rate terms... so I wouldn't worry, the exchange rate to $ US is about 1.55, but often things like this are nearer 1.00..

Those 3 things being the only options is a good thing. Those are the things that most people disagree on the most, so that is a good compromise.

Is that price in Euros or Pounds?

If those are indeed the only options, I'm in heaven. Gimme a base model at base price! :D

Although I have to wonder how those 3 options can add $5k US to the price of the car (Mazda USA says a base car will be ~$26k and a fully loaded one around $31k). Perhaps the low power model is $26k here, and the higher performance one will be more like $29k.
