The Unbreakable Autolock (not)

For a couple of years I've been using the Autolock as one of several antitheft devices for my car. Last morning however the Unbreakable Autolock broke, but not by a thief. The notches on the keyhole somehow got misaligned so I couldn't get my key in the lock to unlock it. I had to call a locksmith. He managed to cut it off, but it took him 20 minutes with a grinder. The grinder wheel was full when he started and worn down to nothing when he was finished. He told me that his boss just gave him that grinder wheel and it normally lasts him a month. Anyway I replaced the autolock with a newer one that has a different type of key so this will not get jammed again. Here's a couple of pics.

well what kinda grinder was it?? i'm sure it wasn't that great if he was toting it around with him and is normally used for padlocks.

the nice milwaukee one i've used at work (the one that you have to muscle around when it's got a big wheel on it) would rip that thing to bits... and the hot sparking bits of that thing would rip your car to peices (and by the look of the way that guy used his wimpy grinder he'd cut up your seats too)... so yeah, probably good that he used a wimpy angle grinder on it.

...yeah i love this tool, even though your hands get tired after a while.

I never trusted those. A thief could easily cut your steering wheel and remove that lock.

the lock is actually for your clutch or brake. its not the old ones that you put on the steering wheels. Honestly this is actually a pretty good product if you read the post it took 20 minutes with a grinder to gring it all the way. If I was trying to steal a car I wouldn't spending 20 minutes with my *** and back facing the street (kinda obvious).

auto lock brake lock

hi !
Im new to this forum. I like rx 8's and supras, rx 7's , all sportscars...

ok so I have one of these autolocks !!
I have several .

so first, YOu had a problem, and could not get it off . so that means it locked your car, even with the key you could not get it off !! LOL !!

then , YOU, not an invader, but you, with the door open, then had to call a technician, to get it off.

he had to use a SPECIAL GRINDER SAW

to CUT IT OFF

im sure this saw made a lot of noise ! imagine if that noise would be at night !!!!! everyone would hear and people would look out and say wtf ??? is going on ???
and they would call the police.

there is no way to get that **** off of there, without a serious saw. and you even said the guy messed up the blade completely, while cutting through it, attempting to get it off, and i think it took him a long time, and a lot of cutting and it was not easy for him, and the sound was loud.

so the bottom line, is this is very very hard to get off. if you have this device you will never get the car stolen, its impossible. they will always go for a car that does not have that thing. the next guy, will not have it.

however. LOL they can actually tow your car , onto a flat bed, and take it away that way, so don't forget about that possibility

yup. imagine the sound at night ( most theives work at night ) at night !!!!! when everyone wants quiet, esp in residential neighborhood.

with a grinder saw ??? at night ? people woudl look out window, or even go check it and well, maybe they would say we are working on our car... so, maybe the people would go away but they might,. call police.

if you are right close by, you would check, and see some ******* working on YOUR car, then police or you would yell and chase him out LOL

other possibilities are, they they could tow the car away and in their own shop. they can then saw through that and get access to the car.

Nice bump. Man, I cringe at the thought of someone using a grinder on my 8 anywhere, let alone inside of it. Who steals RX-8's anyway? They are probably the least stolen car ever.

That lock smith wasn't very smart.

all you need is a can of Freon. Freeze the lock and hit with hammer and screw driver.

No noise and your off with a stolen car in a minute.
