Update on post thread. Car power loss while driving.

UPDATE: So I had the car towed to Mazda. They ran some tests and they said what was coming up was some engine failures. They need me to bring any maintenence work done to the car so they can fax it to Mazda to see if its covered my warranty. The only real paperwork I have is really bodywork that was done to the car in a minor accident. It lists in there though there is a piece that was installed to the car, that wasnt sold with the vehicle, which was my intake. I have since then taken the intake out. But what are the chances that this will now void my warranty out..? Im getting pretty nervous at this point.

Hey guys, I posted a few days ago on a current problem I had. I had been driving home when I felt a sudden loss of power. I ended up somehow getting it home, but ever since then, I wasnt able to start the car up. I had a K&N v2 intake, I took it out and replaced it with the stock, thinking that could be a potential problem. I took a quick look at the spark plugs, and they 'seemed' to look fine. Car is 07 manual with about 17k miles on it...still dont know what it could be. I just called mazda and they said over the phone they would have to check the car out in person, and would have to get it towed in. Towing is 150$ + whatever else it may be, but said if the problem is covered under warranty, then I wouldn't get billed for anything. My question here is, the problem is most definatly covered under warranty correct? I dont see how it wouldnt be as Im not too sure if I still have bumper to bumper, but engine warranty is up to 60k? Correct?

Regardless Im sure its going to have to get towed anyway, my question is though, what are the chances it will be covered under warranty..sorry for the long read.

Why didn't you add to the old post? Well you won't know till you get it to the dealer. It's under warranty, I'm sure it will be fine.

My dealership would disown me if I even got close to modifying the car's 'internal organs'. Your intake may be the problem. Most of the 8s ending up in our local dealership with blown engines are the ones with changed intakes.

your covered, the k&n does not void your warranty....im thinking coils, even this early with only 17k you might have bad coils....

ur engine warranty is 100k 8yrs...thats the core only tho

You guys are lucky then. Someone changed their intake and engine blew. Dealer voided thwir warranty and it cost them around USD7000 (equivalent) to replace the engine...

That must have been one shitty intake/they were idiots and put it on wrong.

Proper intakes won't pop the engine if installed correctly. No way, no how.

I doubt it was the intake that caused my problem. I just put the stock back one in now just to be safe, plus I dont wanna deal with anything with the dealer right now. Im getting it towed in to the dealer probably monday. Ill keep you guys updated. Hopefully its just coils. Even more so, hopefully whatever it is, its just covered.

It was most likely flooded a few times before you bought it.

i did the same thing when i was 20 heh, bought a brand new 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo w/ stick but never owned or drove a stick prior to the test drive but I didnt want to afford the extra $800 for an auto,

I did ok except for going from 4th to 3rd entering hwy off an onramp, salesmans eyes bugged out as tach was bouncing off 7500 rpm rev limiter After a day I had stick down pat no problem BUT after returning to the dealer I said I wanted a different color just to avoid buying the car I abused. Sounds like a tool if he couldnt master a stick and only tried for 75 miles, but youd be suprised what people can do to a car in 75 miles.

Good Luck with it, sounds like youre still under bumper to bumper and powertrain warranties.

Yeah ... first owner showed it no respect ... shifted at like 4 k RPM.

Once it's broken in show her you love her... shift at the beep.
The more she beeps - the more she loves you.

Are you retarded? Why would you give them paperwork for some BODYWORK?!?!

They're looking for paper work and receipts for oil changes and fluid/filter changes... MAINTENANCE work so they can make sure you took care of the car.

Did you just toss the receipts in the trash can? Do the work yourself?
