Upper Vent + Feet Vents on = Defrost Air also???

I've noticed when I place the fan blower on vent + feet (the setting with the arrows at your face+down-arrow pointing to feet) but with the Defrost selections set to 'off', that I get air out the defrost also...

So, my 2 questions:

1) Does this happen to everyone else? Or do you just get vent+feet? Because I'm getting vent+feet+defrost (windshield) airflow.

2) Is your NOISY!? I mean even on setting #2 for airflow, its freaking annoying. At 3 or 4 it sounds like a tornado. (okay, I'm stretching it a bit, but its quite loud).

I have to agree, this is the noisiest fan i've ever had in a car. I just decided today to treat myself with a ride in my rx-8 since the roads are all cleared of all snow and they are dry. Mind you it's 0 F here in Montreal and i have the stock tires on. It was fun again to drive,(very carefully, no redlines) but this car takes forever to heat the floors and my feet were cold !!!

I agree and it has been talked about before but the fan blower motor is loud. I think that they had to put a fairly powerful one in since they are ducting the air to the rearseat floor vents when the floor vents are on. This is just my guess but it makes sense to me.
