Urgent Help !!! Please (Advanced Keyless Entry)
I need help ASAP cause im supposed to be somewhere right now and i dropped my Advanced keyless entry key on the floor and it doesnt work anymore so i cannot turn on my car. Supposedly if you remove the valet key and put it into the ignition you can turn on the car but its not working cause i think the valet key itself was not programmed. I need help !! I tried removing the battery and bending the metal inside the key so it comes in contact cause i know it shifts once in a while with no luck. Help !!!

Ended up being that the wheel was locked - try pulling the steering wheel to the center while you're turning the ignition with the valet key.

Unfortunately if the valet key was never programmed, and the battery in the remote is dead or weak, there's no way to start the vehicle. I suggest getting a new battery for the remote and then get the valet key programmed. I think the battery number is CR2025...

I feel your pain.
First thing I did when I got my 8 was buy a third advanced key from eBay. If you already have TWO working remotes/keys, you can program a third. If you're down to one - you need the dealer.

I tried bro. But if the remote isnt detected by the car it wont start.
Im going to mazda hopefully in the next few days. Theyll see if the remote still works.. if so reprogram it along with the key which should have been programmed a long time ago. If remote doesnt work ill have to purchase a new one and reprogram the new one along with my existing key.

Perhaps I'm missing your point, but the point of that key is to be used in an emergency situation like yours - meaning; when the receiver stops working due to dead battery or whatever.

Piston hater - When i mean real key i mean emergency key. THat emergency key has a chip inside the black little plastic part and it was to be programmed. Unfortunately, ever since i bought the car off the previous owner THAT emergency key was not programmed therefore even if the emergency key i wont be able to start the car.
My cars going in on monday. I have a feeling the remote is completely busted like most of you said which means id have to buy another remote then program both the remote and the emergency key.

Sorry to bump this thread. I was thinking about this problem the other day. Like i said i will be getting my car towed to my local mazda dealership monday. I was wondering if they will be able to fix my problem. I have NO working key at the moment to start the car. Will they be able to get me a brand new remote that they can program without existing working keys/remotes ?

The dealer can.
The only reason you'd have to have a working key is if you were programming a new key yourself, I think. I'm not sure how that works with the newer keys/wireless keys.
