Firstly after reading this thread, I dont think anyone has the right to judge other people in the manner a child would: i.e
[quote] the main problem here are clueless RX-8 owners like yourself who go shooting off at the mouth about things they know nothing about.
The RX8, and Impreza both have good and bad points. The only bad point however on the RX8 is the amount of fuel it consumes, and the Impreza is a over rated unreliable turbocharged turtle
not really... im sure theres many more bad points of the impreza apart from the engine lol, the 2 cars are totaly different in every way apart from having 4 wheels each ,and we could all spend days on end picking out little bits to argue about. You could say the RX8 is a piece of enginering genious, and the Impeza is a rally bred monster. You could also say 1000000 other things....
My point being is, instead of arguing like children why doesnt someone try and get some more concrete facts etc. and make the dispute more controlled and technical.
Just a thought....

Check out this thread again...who is the one who starts off about the STi and Evo first? That would be you. Who is the one one who starts off the badmouthing in every other thread, that would be you. I think you will find that I generally don't start anything, I only respond after you say something stupid.
How many times does it have to be said? Based on the threads on this forum, there are MANY people who cross-shop the STi/Evo and the RX-8. Just because you don't like the comparison because the RX-8 comes out on the short end of the stick doesn't mean that the comparisons shouldn't be made. With the STi and Evo, you get more car. What it comes down to is the $5000-$10000 price difference between the STi/Evo and the RX-8 worth it to you? I said yes, my wife said no. But to say that the STi and Evo are just riced-out econoboxes is just pure ignorance (and it doesn't say much for the RX-8 if these riced-out econoboxes outperform your "pure sports car" on every level).
And, as Blue Eyes so rightly says, most people on here do not despise the STi/Evo. Most people on here are level-headed car enthusiasts, unlike yourself, who is nothing more than a Mazda rotary fanboi with blinders on.
It's funny how in other threads, you say that the STi is better than the Evo and now you are saying that the Evo is better than the STi. Which is it? Or, do you just like to antagonize?
Please list for me the more expensive sports cars that the RX-8 compares favorably to. This should be good for a laugh.

People cross shop here because the rx8 is a 4 passenger crossover sportscar.
If vehicle platform makes no difference, and they don't need a sportscar platform then the econobox platform sportscar like the STi may be for them. The rotary catastrophically out performs an ordinary turbo 4 cylinder like your sti. The 1.3 is putting out 176 hp/liter compared to your 2.5 turbo 4 banger 120hp/liter. Even with your turbo and twice the displacement you can only squeeze out 70 more hp. Add the V10 like smoothness and drivability of the rotary and your STi is dead meat in any comaprison. I compare my 8 to the Z350, S2000,z4, G35 and porsche boxer. All of them true sportscars created on sportscar platforms...That's what it's all about

Jeremey Clarkson also said the Rx-8 is terrible in wet weather. Since he apparently only speaks in fact, we know that's correct..right?
I have no idea how you could possibly think a comparison of two completely different engine measurement techniques has any meaning. In fact, the measure of a rotaries displacement can be done in three ways, IIRC. If I remember rotarygod correctly, you'd have to call the Renisis a 2.6L engine to be right.

Multiply this times 2 rotors to achieve 1.3. Since this only accounts for 2 of the total of 6 rotor faces, we multiply our answer by 3 to get an actual displacement of 3.9 liters. However since the rotary engine is a 6 stroke engine and not a 4 stroke engine since it takes 3 complete eccentric shaft revolutions to fire all faces instead of the typical engine's 2, it only does 66% the work of a 4 stroke 3.9 liter engine. Calculating for this we divide 3.9 by 1.5 to get a total of 2.6 liters equivalent work to a 4 stroke piston engine. All of this from a 1.3 liter in physical size package.

At ant rate, with DSC turned on, I've found the RX-8 to MUCH more surefooted in the wet than the Mustang GT I used to own.
I don't think anyone can honestly dispute that the RX-8 has racked up an overwhelming amount of praise and awards from automotive sources, technical and otherwise.
It's a great car, and when value is considered, an amazing car.

please PLEASE PLEASE, nothing more about Evo's and STI's.
I'd rather read about knitting...or kite flying. Or getting a root canal.
Coming here and hearing Ike and STI Eric constantly going on about their "supercars" is like surfing for **** and having gay stuff pop up...ok, not that there is anything wrong with that.
Hey, just a thought. I betcha STI Eric calls himself that 24/7. As in "watch out baby, here comes STI Eric."

Exactly, that's how we contain them. Seems to work.

It's so true. Ike, in attemoting to again bash the RX-8, only further highlights another one of its strengths.

As according to IKE I don't know dick about the STI/EVO perhaps you can tell me how many HP their engines generate when normally aspirated ?
