they are indeed spectacular...especially on a black a car :D

i just with that they offered them as a port option...what is the incentive of me trading in my aluminum 18's for a set of polished 18's? now i'm stuck with 2 sets of rims...so i'm likely to just pass up the polished (chrome) rims

Personally, I was rather perturbed to see the night lights as an option, rather than being standard. After some thought, however, I realized the sensibilty in doing this for our market:

We Americans are a hard crowd - so obsessed with HP, torque, 0-60, and 1/4-mile times. It makes sense to leave off as much extraneous stuff as possible to keep curb weight down, and then sell them back to us as a dealer accessory.

As cool as it is, and as excited as I was when I read about it in the press kit - I won't be getting this accessory. It is not really necessary for me, and it is a little added weight, and probably a big added expense. My right now add-ons are the rotary accents (at port), MP3 player, wheel locks, and floor mats (probably premium). Later on, I may grab those air vent bezels, a car cover and lock, the wheel centers, and sill plates.

I'll be curious to see what the grille trim ring and the front sunshield look like.

Digisan, the pedals ARE standard on the MT. The accesory pedals are for auto. BRx8 didn't mention that on the brochure there are asterisks beside those denoting that.

If you browse the forum a bit (maybe even use that dreaded search button) - particularly East Moon and JSG's threads on their cars as well as the RX-8 Press Kit you can find out more about the night lights, but in a nutshell they are lights under the sideview mirrors that illuminate the ground when you enter and exit the vehicle to see what you are stepping into. Wheel centers are center caps, and the exhaust finishers are hard to explain in brief. Browse or search the forum for details about the accessory packages. The photos show the exhaust finishers. As far as the formaldehyde filter - that's a new one for me...guessing it is one of thos hypo-allergenic air filter modules that have become so popular in new cars.

wheel centers replace the Mazda emblem in the center of the rim with a rotary one

Does the Night Light come with a story book - perhaps Mazda and the three big bad bears - Toyota, Nissan and Honda?

Lightbulb Sunshade

Do you think the front sunshade may be something you place in your vehicle when you park it, to keep the sun out?

Thumbs up

This looks like the aldehyde filter:

I hope it's not too expensive, because that's something I'd very much like.

i didn't have time to read that entire article but what it basically does is purify the air 100% more than the coal filters being used? if so, then i'd want that as well, i live pretty close to the city

also, i really wish i could install that MP3 player at the port...i wonder if it's just an add-on or a completely different head unit that's probably not even compatible with the 6-disc changer...that's gonna really suck as 1 MP3 filled CD holds MORE than 6 regular CDs...

from an email I sent to Mazda, they say you can either get the MP3 OR 6CD, not both.

Here's what Mazda said...

Let me make a correction from my last e-mail. You can not have MP3
player and the 6-CD player at same time. You would have to choose one
or the other. The 6-CD player can only play audio CDs and the MP3
player can play MP3 files and audio CDs.

The estimate Manufacture Suggested Retail Price for the 6-CD changer is
approximately $530 and for the MP3 player is approximately $350. Please
keep in mind that this is only estimated MSRP price. The official price
has not been determined and the estimate price may change.

Is this MP3 player just a CD player that can decode MP3 files on CD, or can it actually read MP3s from a non-optical storage medium?

I would assume the former since you can either get the MP3 player or the 6-disc changer. This leads me to believe that the head unit gets swapped out with a CD Player that's capable of reading MP3 CD's. Mazda's rep sort of confirmed this in the way the players are described.

i spoke with my dealer and he told me that the MP3 player is a dealer installed accessory and not a port installed option...so if you want the MP3 player, you SHOULD NOT get the 6-disc changer as both are incompatible with each other...and the mp3 costs about $150 less than the 6-disc (he wasn't sure of the price, just a rough estimate)

I'd buy the Mp3 player if and ONLY if it has a readout for the song name

well i didn't ask him if it was compatible with ID4 tags...i'd doubt it...

but why wouldn't you buy it over the 6-disc (assuming your contemplating on either the MP3 player or 6-disc player)? a regular 700Mb CD can hold about 100-150 songs dependent on file size...6 CDs can hold about 66 (11 songs/CD) - 120 (20 songs/CD), but that's lugging around 6 CDs, most of which has filler songs you wouldn't listen to anyway...i have 3 CDs in my car right now, one filled with 120 Dance/Techno/Trance songs, one filled with 140 rap/hip-hop/r&b songs, and one filled with 100 alternative/rocks songs...that's all i need...

No, don't need ID tags, just the file name to be displayed.

I am very organized with my MP3s so it's nice to have a list when it's playing.

Besides I think I'd rather save the money and get a regular CD player.... I swap between only a few CDs depending on my mood, and make a new one every few weeks, so I don't think I'll get too bored.
