Used 04

Hi everyone, I'm new to the RX8 world but I've wanted one for a while. I found a deal for a blue 04 with the Grand Touring package and fully loaded. It's even got custom wheels. It looks spectacular but it's got nearly 53,000 miles on it. I checked out the carfax report and it came back with no problems. The first owner drove it around 600 miles a month but the second owner was driving like 2500 miles a month. The asking price is 19,000. What does the RX community have to say about this vehicle and the bargain for it. Here's a link with the pictures and info. Thanks in advance for any advice or tips.

Sounds high, where are you....... you have no location listed? I would drive it and insist on a compression test. The 60K warranty is about up.

Too high for that mileage. Keep looking. For not much more than that, you could get a new one. Some dealers still have 06s on the lot and are giving some great deals to get rid of them.

Just don't get an AT.

I'm in Virginia. This dealer is in Fairfax. You think I could find a fully loaded 06 for somewhere around 20000? I haven't seen a deal like that while I've been shopping around

I actually don't think that's a horrible price. It's not great, but not horrible. Mileage is steep on it, no doubt, but it does have some aftermarket products. I actually love the way that 8 looks with those wheels.....much better than stock.

See if you can bargain them down another $1000. They probably paid around $15-$16k for it from the seller, so $18k would still be a good profit for them.

You couldn't get a new RX-8 with the touring or Grand Touring package for $20k. You might be able to find some new base or sport models for that much, but you lose out on all the creature comforts (leather, bose stereo, power seats, etc).

Price seems high for the mileage - shop or bargain harder - and on soemthing over 40K mileage on an 04, have a compression and leakdown test done it.

I appreciate the advice. Do you think 17500 would still be too much? I'm going to try to get it down to 17000.
