Used RX-8...
Hi, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post.
I'm on the market for a used car as my current car is dying on me After do much reading around these forums and just general research, I've decided i want a RX-8.
I've found a used 04 RX-8 GT M/T for around 16.9k with 48k miles. Haven't really talked to the dealers and lowing the price but to me it seems like a decent price. I would much rather buy a new 8 but college student = not enough money
I'm also looking at the Acura RSX Type-S but i prefer the 8.
Where should i look first for flaws, problems and what not when looking at the 8?
I emailed the dealer about the recalls, starters, batteries, the PCM flashes etc. just need to wait for them to reply.

u asked the best questions here "I emailed the dealer about the recalls, starters, batteries, the PCM flashes etc. just need to wait for them to reply."
take it for a test drive and get a feel for the wear on the clutch. That does seem a bit steep on price. You can get an 06 GT for around 17-18k with a LOT less miles.
do a bit of searching around the boards and should get a lot of "questions" answered (ie: flooding issue without flash updates on the 04s when shutting down cold).
welcome to the boards and if you pick up and 8, enjoy the addiction. It becomes a moneypit of "extras" that you will find you cant control

Thanks for the welcome.
As for the 06 GT, i don't know if it's my area not getting 8s or the people that bought them liked it and don't sell them back to the dealers, but that was pretty much the best deal i was able to find.
How much do you think i'll be able to bring down the price?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=12 heres one at rosenthal mazda dealer for under 16k with 41,000 miles.
use it for a good starting price and then haggle from there. looks like rosenthals has quite a few ranging from 04's to 07's.

You might be able to get a better price than the one that you listed. You seem to have a good start, my advice is to make sure the transmission is good. I got mine with 45k and the syncros were shot, if you drive a car hard, you should be able to tell. It might also be worth it to drain the tranny fluid when you have a mechanic check the car out.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.
