well, you have 4 valve stems, 1 on each wheel. in the motor itself, no valves, other than that, i am not sure how many other valves there are.

I am going to say this as nicely as I possibly can....you OWN an RX-8 yet don't know?

Here is how you find out:

1) Get in car
2) Drive car to nearest Mazda dealership
3) Talk to salesman
4) Trade in RX-8 for Mazda 6 or something else.

Depends if you wanna be funny or serious:

Funny: No valves. Just ports.

Not funny: There's all sorts of solenoid valves, but none are for combustion (at least not directly)

I once had an Alabama hole-in-the-wall "mechanic" tell me my 7 needed a 'valve job'. Sure, pal.. sure. (turns out a wire had fell off one of the igniters..... I was literally running on one rotor) Mazda mech. took one look, and 2 seconds later the 2nd rotor was firing nice as can be.

No valves, no pistons, no cams and only a kinda-sorta crankshaft.

You need to do some research on the wonderful little engine under your hood. Its literally like nothing else on the road (except for RX-7s). Read up so you can impress your friends with your Wankelology.

depends on how you look at it. The engine has no valves, but the intake does.
