Veilside Fortune and the RX-8

Veilside Fortune and the RX-8
Sent an email to Veilside inquiring about the possibility of a Veilside Fortune RX-8 kit. This was the reply, just figured I would share:
We do not have a Fortune body kit in mind for the RX-8. The design feature of a Fortune body kit is normally to change the aesthetics of the original car to a totally new look. All Fortune body kits are wide body, but it is difficult to make a true wide body kit on a car that has the rear wheel arches in contact with the rear doors. The rear door arches are a structural requirement for the chassis stiffness, but would impede in that role if we are to cut away that section to make room for wider wheels and tires. The process overall becomes more complex than the normal fender cutting jobs like what is possible on 2-door coupes. I’m sorry to inform you but it is unlikely that we can develop a feasible solution to creating a wide body kit for this chassis.

rx8 current design has structural integrity built in.
Veilside is just for looks... so its too much for them to do anything more then look good.
while it would be great to buy a kit for $11,000.... i'm sure anyone can make something that looks just as good on their own for that kinda cash... and keep the structural integrity.

Well I guess there aren't too many fortune fans. I, myself, liked the RX-7 kit. I thought it made the car stand out more and added a supercar look to the supercar engine.

i guess that is why alot of ppl dont like it, like my self. Rx7 is not a super car, so IMO it shouldnt try to look like one either. to me the fortune kit makes the 7 look like a kit car then a Rx7. but i give respect to the designers at Veilside even though their taste is not some tihng i care for. i think its cool that the still design off the wall designs for their fans.

with a rotary engine, even though i know its a 7. the style of the FD is gone. I know ppl buy body kits for their cars, but you can still see its true form. . Fortune takes away the true form of the FD and make it look some exotic car, which the FD is not. Back in the early 90's ppl in japan use to make their 2nd gen MR2 look like Ferrari's. to me that was free comedy at its best.
but like i said, i respect these ppl who loves these off the wall body kits . because we all have different taste. But as for me, i just prefer a look that stays very close to the cars true form.

guess my views of exotic car differs from yours. Ferrari, Lambo, TVR , Zonda is exotic to me. Z, 7, GTR, and all the other sports cars that are some what mass produce are not even though they may look different or unsual . but that is just me.
