Question Velocity Red Mica

Have been told by my UK dealer that we will only get 4 colours for first 3 months production run and they are:

Sunlight Silver metallic
Titanium Grey metallic
Velocity Red Mica (signature colour)
Brilliant Black solid

As I will be pre-ordering in Feb for August delivery, I took a trip to my local dealer on Saturday to look at colours. I was able to see all but the Velocity Red, a colour "special" to the RX8.

Please could someone who has seen the car in this colour post a picture of what they feel truly represents this mystery red as I've seen so many different reds, I'm now confused.

I do prefer the darker red I must say and if shade is not to my liking I will probably go with Silver or Grey.

Look forward to seeing some pics or links.

Thanks a bunch

Here's a screensaver image I put together for myself. Perhaps this will show you the "mica-ness". It's the most closeup shot I've seen of the paint to date.

Wink Velocity Red Mica

Thanks Neal.

Any more out there who have seen the car and can help me?

Perhaps the red will appear darker in England as it's always cloudy!

Take care. I appeciate how the right red can make or break the overall look. I was glad to hear it's a mica color, though. Usually such a true red is an enamel. The metallic nature will make this color something special.

I'd say that if there was a more handsome color for the car that Mazda has now circulating, they'd be sporting it.

Go for the red.

(Perhaps there is something too conspicuous about red in England?)

Distaster! No winning blue mica! Oh I really hope they bring that out later.

I saw the mica red on the pre-production model at the LA Auto Show. The pictures that I have distorted the color really badly, but the red itself is incredible! It almost made me change my mind from titanium (and I'm not a red car kinda guy....) Stunning.

Smile Velocity Red Mica

Thanks guys for all your comments, I'm still not decided.

There are many pictures of the whole car, mainly from Detroit on this forum but, if you've seen them, which one is the truest?

I may have to chicken out and go for Silver or Grey.

Any ideas on interior leather options, what colours are available?

Thanks.

IMHO, you're not going to find a picture that does the color justice. It was truly far more beautiful than I thought it would be. That said, the best examples I can find are here.

Thumbs up Velocity Red Mica

Thanks, it looks great!

How come you're going for Titanium and what interior?

Saw both Titanium and Silver last Saturday at my local dealer on brand new 6's. Both looked great too but in my opinion Silver showed off 6's lines better and the 8's lines are prettier.

Any info on leather interior trim options like what colours are
available and where does the two-tone trim fit in or is this just another option?

Thanks, its all about a month behind here so we've got some catching up to do prior to placing orders in Feb.

I personally chose the titanium because, like I said, I'm not much for red. I've always liked darker cars. I considered the silver for a long time, but ended up sticking with the grey. I ordered the black/chaparral (brown) leather for the interior. I didn't think that I'd like it, but I saw it on the red RX-8 at the auto show and it's very classy. It'd look even better inside a titanium body. Yummy... :D

I was surprised by the red in rl. It's actually very nice, and the red interior leather isn't as bright as somme pictures have made it out to be. I just got back from Detroit a few hours ago, and we took a TON of pictures of all three cars, inside and out(less inside of the red, since we couldn't get into it). Hopefully we'll have time to get them on the web tomorrow. So far, on our laptop, the red looks very close to the actual color.
