Venting, my car died.
I'm really pissed off, this is the second time my engine gave out. It's at the dealership at the moment, and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I was driving my 8 home from work yesterday and I heard a loud thud, now it cranks but it wont start up. Last time they put in a reman motor, and it's been about 10k miles on it. I hope they don't make me pay for it. I don't see how it could be my fault.

OMG!!! 4 engines / 3 manifolds. I'm stressing because I love this car so much. I was talking with the wife last night, saying that if I need to get rid of this car, I don't think I'll ever be happy. Even though my friends and family know my dream car is an RX-7 (3rd gen) I've grown to love my 8 so much. For me it's either have both cars, or cry and by myself something I can live with.

Thanks everyone, the dealer just called and told me it was my Battery, spark plugs, and coil packs. Seriously, I just replaced these a bit over a year ago. They're gonna give me a new battery, but I have to pay about 700 bucks for new plugs and coils. I think this is BS if it keeps going on every year. Any ideas on how to maintain this, or what might be the problem, and how i can prevent this from happening again?

Okay, need some help again everyone. btw Jedi, the loud thud is exactly what I thought it was. They came back to me after the diag results, and said i have a problem with my combustion chamber. From the sound of the loud thud, my gas peddle also felt really heavy. I'm assuming that my seals went bad? I was wondering, I asked if I still had to pay for my coils and plugs. The answer was yes, If all this went wrong with my motor, is it related? should I have to pay for these things still?

I think everyone has touched on this but the coils/plugs/wires installation is not a hard one and can be done with simple tools. For $700 out of pocket you could easily save yourself a grip of cash.
Right now the BHR kits are about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks from order to delivery it's very possible by the time they got the reman into the car the kit would be on your doorstep. Otherwise the other choice is to go with stock coils. The cost would be cheaper but with your previous experience with coil failures I'm not sure if that would be what you would want to do.
Regarding the cost to you for those items failing...the 100,000 mile warranty only covers the "keg" portion of the motor. All the attached items like coils, intake manifold etc. are not covered and require out of pocket expenses to replace.
Just let myself or anyone at BHR know if you are in need of the coil kit. We're putting together our next batch of orders so the quicker it's taken care of the faster we can get it to you!

Still talking to them about the getting a new motor in my car. They needed me to prove all my services, I thought it was kind of retarded as they should have access to the records themselves. This held me up for another 3 days. I'm starting to get irritated by all this.
