vin

hi everyone. i am currently trying to find the exact model 8 i have. i want to install hids in both the head and the fog lights so i need to know which model i have. the trouble is that i cant find a vin decoder that recognizes the model characters. they are FE173 located in positions 4-8. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

You should just call Mazda at 1-800-222-5500 thats the US number. I know my insurance company could even tell me what model it was, although they said mines a grand touring and I don't believe it is. Just have your full vin# ready when you call them.

if you have leather and sunroof you have gt, just sunroof i believe its touring, no sunroof and you have sport or base.

Im not sure if this applies to 04s or not they may have been a bit different but im pretty sure it was the same.

My VIN starts - JM1FE173.......

3 is probably for the super-output engine?

I was thinking the 3 represented the 4-port.

Since my attachment only lists a 2 and 4 (which is high power), maybe the 3 was the 4-port engines and its not listed in my attached pic because the '09 doesn't have 4-port engines
