I sold the Viper alarm system with remote start to a local RX-8 owner named Phil. You might wanna PM him and ask him about it.. (Phil's 8)

I find Viper alarm systems to be overpriced. You can usually get a Compustar Pro alarm system for about 300-400 installed. That includes 2 way FM monitoring, remote start, and dual mode shock sensors. Also, for a bit extra you can have it turn on heat or a/c or roll your windows/sunroof up or down.

Really depends on the price though.

I installed a Viper 5900 in my fiance's mazda 3, it's worked out really well. It's got the two-way feature (little car on the display). I would definitely recommend getting the two-way system, it's nice to know that your car is actually on if you tell it to be.

I remember years ago Viper alarms were regarded as some of the best systems out there. (for decent money / readily available)
I'm sure Phil will drop by and chime in.

I had one in my Pontiac Fiero, worked great.

You can get a 5900 for $200 online and install it yourself. It wasn't my prettiest work ever, but it works. I'd probably be more nervous about screwing up my 8 than her 3 though...
