WAHOOO! All covered under warranty... but

So I Brought my car in today for service repairs and they told me they will be changing the starter, upgraded battery, new plugs, AND most importantly a new TRANSMISSSSSSSION!!

BUT... the guy told me it was a Rebuilt tranny... Now, my concern is, under warranty shouldnt I be receiving a brand new one? and not a rebuilt one???

any thoughts on this?

Should I tell them that I want a NEW NEW tranny and not a rebuilt one?

I need some good suggestions here. I dont know if i should be satisfied with this rebuilt one.

remember it's an 04 6sp GT model... soo that means i have untill 08 before my warranty is up...

I'm betting that if you look at the warranty contract, refurb. or reman. components are allowed as replacements. It'll be covered under warranty as well.

The rebuilt might be better...If they were rebuilt by someone that knows what they are doing they can fix some of the gear noise in the stock tranny

I posted earlier last week about my woes haha.

Reverse was poping out of gear, sometimes 6th would pop out from an easy cruise.

1st, 2nd,, 3rd had a crunchy-rattling sound from 2K-5K RPM's.

Morries Mazda said they will have the parts in on thursday, so I will swing on by to take a look at it.

so they are currently taking care of the tranny issues, the starter/battery/plugs, and a new defrost button.

It almost has to be a rebuilt tranny. You can't really buy a "new" transmission because there is no such thing as a transmission factory. Car manufacturers might make a few extra transmissions, but, after that, its all about trading rebuilt transmissions for broken ones, and then rebuilding the broken ones to put into other cars.

The transmission in the RX-8 is no exception.

Really? That's funny given that my father has worked at one over 40 years.

yea these guys were really nice about things too. at first they just wanted to change out the parts that were defective within the tranny but when i came they replaced the entire thing lol sweet deal.

starter/battery/plugs have been changed and upgraded

AND they even changed out the defrost button with no haggle at all. i just told them that i talked to mazda NA about it and they affirmed that it was covered under warranty.

so yup, morries mazda is a plus in my book!
