Wait Time for 2007 RX-8

I'm going to order the 2007 RX-8 this week. They are telling me that its going to take 4 months for the car to get deliver.

Does anyone know if this is the worse case scenario? Can it be delivered any sooner? Has anyone gotten their 07 model yet?

Keep on waiting. Last time I heard anything 07s were expected in mid-late November, which is not four months now. It can't be delivered any sooner than the building schdule allows, which doesn't mean it's going to happen as planned.

Take my 06 for example.

Scheduled build date November 1, promised delivery date of January 27. Didn't happen.
build date pushed back to December 1 build date, delivery still promised to be same date. Didn't happen.
Build date pushed back to January 1. Delivery date pushed back to February 24. Didn't happen.
Build date pushed back to February 1. YAY!!!!!!!! Delivery date of March 13, as promised by MNAO. NOPE.
Took delivery, finally, on March 26.

Don't hold your breath.

Just buy an 06 or 05 for 10K off MSRP, it's practically the same car.

let me guess - you think the '07s are going to have some horsepower boost that the '06s don't have.

Unless you are wanting one of the new colors or option that isn't currently offered there is no point to ordering an 07, you will just paying out your *** for the same car as on 06 or 05 model

Well the rumor I got from a friend of a friend of a BMW salesman affiliated with a Mazda dealership is that the 2007.5 RX-8 will have the long rumored wide rotor displacement 1.6 liter Renesis with better gas mileage!!!!!!

Well, my best friend's sister's cousin's boyfriend works with a guy that knows a mechanic at an Audi dealer, and his son's bestfriend told him that the 07 RX8 will have a twin turbo and supercharged 5liter 4 rotor! i can't wait!

The specs for the changes to the 2007 were already posted to this site. They include the official Mazda documentation. A friend's cousin's cat's sister's owner's information isn't going to be as reliable as the Mazda docs. Do a search and you'll find them. I also wouldn't recommend going off of what the salesmen tell you. I was considering an 05 at the end of the calendar year and had to bring the 06 Mazda docs posted on this site with me to prove to the salesmen that they were full of crap.

As to your question, I ordered my 2006 after production on the 2006's had already started. We modified a "car" that already had a slot for production, verses adding another car at the end of the line to be built. I have been waiting 3 months now, and I have been told I have one more month to wait. I know that my car is in port now at least.

Thanks for the replies everyone.......well the reason I decide to wait for the 07 model is because I cant find the 06 model witth all the options I want. I'm looking for a BB/BR GT with NAV, appearence pack, in-dash 6 CD, spoiler, fender strakes, alarm upgrade and rotary accent appearence.

When I do find the BB/BR GT with NAV and ask them to add all the other options then they are going to charge me for the installation price. Honestly I'm more comfortable having the factory make a car for me with all these options then the dealer adding them at the dearlership and charging me for the installation.

So if I'm going to spend 35K for a car, I might as well get what I want. Doesnt that make sense????

^^ It takes an hour tops to install the rotary accents and strakes, and you would have to be retarded to mess those up. Why don't you just get a BB with NAV, buy the appearance package seperately, and have a shop install it?

Tha additional HP is only for the AT, which now has a 6-spd tranny verses a 4 like in 04 & 05. The leather is better and there is a keyless start for the GT 06. I don't know anything about the nav.

The only features that are coming from the factory are the ext and int colors, the GT pack and nav. Every other item you list is going to be installed by a 17 year old prep tech at the dealer. If you have no skills or desires for the do-it-yourself, be sure to lean on the dealer heavy when you negotiate those options. They are pure profit to the dealer.

This thred makes no sense. You do realize you can order an 06 and not wait 9 months right?

no- half of the things he wants would be installed at teh port and those people know what they are doing- might as well be the factory. but the accents would be dealer installed

ps. the 2007 spec deck which i posted in post 8 of this thread https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...7&page=1&pp=15 shows the job 1 date of july. figure 2-3 months before they build them load them on a boat and they get to dealers- thats september - october. bet on november so if its early you are suprised

huh??? how is this thread not make sense?

No I cant order the 06 RX-8, thats the whole point. If you order anything now, its going to be the 07 RX-8 with 4 month wait time.

ahhh.... i see now. u'r having the same issue that Jedi & I had for our 8's... yes, BB/BR GT + Nav is difficult to come by indeed. we both special ordered our 8's, pretty much same specs as urs for the most part, for the same reason. but, i only waited 2.5 months- i ordered mine in 3/2005 and got it 5/2005. i think jorge's took slightly longer, but still around the 2-3 month window.

hope this info helps!
