Waitin to be 8in
What's up guys, this is my first post, I am going tomorrow to check out a local 8, seems to be in emaculate condition. They dont have the miles listed on autotrader, but this post is really to just say what's up to the community, and to say that I hope to be a more official member very soon .

Well, there was a bit of a hiccup I went monday morning and somone had already put the car on hold. Luckily I called back at about 5 and they said he never showed up. So this morning me and my buddy got there as soon as they opened and test drove the car. Everything sounded good, looked good, strong clutch, no weird noises, and then....what I thought to be disaster struck. We stopped at a red light and smoke started coming from under the hood. I couldnt believe it, I thought somthing was horribly wrong.
We drove the car back to the dealership and popped the hood. The smoke wasnt billowing or anything, but it was enough to be concerned. I went and got the owner and he said that when they put the car on the lot they took it to have it serviced. During the oil change the mechanic said he spilled oil (he thought) but that he couldnt be sure. The last person who test drove it had the same problem as me, but much worse, they had taken it back to the service station to have it cleaned, and the guy said they got all of the excess oil cleaned off, but apparantly they missed some. I got under the car to check it out, and you could see some of it still, and it was in fact what was burning, causing the smoke. The dealer said he would take it back as soon as we left and have it cleaned again, and that there shouldnt be anymore issues. Tomorrow I am going to the bank with my grandfather (because I dont have any real established credit yet) so we can hopefully get a loan. He also knocked the price down from $19,900 to $18,900 (maby I can get a little more :-D).
I am still....a little concerned about the oil thing....is there anything I should worry about as far as that goes?
Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

I would also like to add that the car has 38k miles on it.
I realise that were I to go through e-bay or somthing I could get one with that many miles cheaper than $18,500, but I would really like to stay local if I can....I would hate to buy somthing, esepcialy a rotary, that I cant first look at and drive. Would you say that's a fair price?

Since its an '04, make sure that it has the latest and greatest ECU flash. The car looks like its in great condition. If the dealership was willing to lower the cost by $1,000 because of some leftover oil from a sloppy oil change then make sure there is nothing really wrong with the engine. From what I remember, Mazda increased the warranty to 4 years and 60,000 miles for the '04-'06 models so you *should* be ok - but check to make sure. I would also offer $17K and see where it goes from there.
Best of luck and hope you get into a 8 soon!
Cheers

Im having a hard time deciding between the rx8 and an FD now......I kinda want an FD cause I want a turbo car, and I dont wanna buy a $6,000 more rx8 and then have to spend another couple thousand to have it turboed....this is really getting to be an annoying decision -_-.
